Brand New Xbox 360 - Need Recommendations for Game
I finally caved and bought a 360. Very pleased so far but the only game I have is Gears of War. Hoping to get some input since most of the rating websites for games seem to be paid off.
I've been cycling through the Counter-Strike/Half-Life genre for the past 6 or so years and aside from a little Halo, Oblivion, and very little WOW I haven't seen any of the newer breakthroughs.
So what would be the best games for an old first person shooter trying to expend his horizons?
Many Thanks
P.S. Even better would be a trustworthy review site.
If you're into shooters, I would defnitely, definitely consider some GRAW/GRAW2, Rainbow 6 Vegas, and Call of Duty 2.
CoD, especially, can be had for mere funbucks now, and Rainbow Six: Vegas is definitely some of the best times I've had with an FPS since Halo and Half-Life 2
As do bugs which cause your system to freeze whenever you load your garden, forcing you to start over again.
Goddamn Viva Pinata. YOU BROKE MY HEART.

You know, I just bought a 360 as well, but I lack a decent internet for Live. And I thought I would enjoy GRAW since I enjoyed playing GR2 and R6 with my mates but I couldn't get into GRAW and I discovered why: No friends to play with.
Luckly my first games were NBA2k7 (came free with the system) and unplugged for Geometry Wars and I've since picked up Prey ($20 used at Blockbuster) and FEAR (since that choked my PC). Are there any plans for an Unplugged 2 collection?
Anyone taken the new Sonic the Hedgehog for a spin?

Yeah, I'm torn about that...
I already have GH1 on PS2 so that's like a $30-40 savings, but I really want the new songs and HD. Plus my buddy's getting it on his 360 so I'd have a band-mate.

There's going to be a bunch of awesome downloadable songs I'm sure, and it's pretty likely that future iterations of the game will be on 360, and probably not PS2 later down the road, so it'll be worth having the guitar.
I'm sure it'll be on eBay for cheap by June. Most of the games listed here go for between 20-35. One store has R6 listed for $35. Seemed like a good deal.
Lost Planet
Gears of War (you said you have already)
Dead Rising (If you like single player games)
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Burnout Revenge
Ghost Recon Advacned Warfighter II
Oblivion
Crackdown
Viva Pinata
On Xbox Live Arcade I would grab:
Worms HD
Geometry Wars
Assault Heros
Small Arms
Bejeweled 2
Uno
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade -- (if it hits this week)
Alien Homined

Lost Planet
FEAR if you didnt play it elsewhere
Non shooter try out Dead Rising, Fight Night Round 3 and PGR3
Hook yourself up with a Live Silver account (its free), I think every game I mentioned has a playable demo to download and you can choose for yourself

Just use the drop down box beside Platform to select Xbox 360.
It averages the scores from all major websites/magazines, so it's usually the best place to go to get a general idea of how the game was received.

I'M A TWITTER SHITTER
Both are brilliant.
Especially Dead Rising.
Shit, Gears, Dead Rising and maybe Viva should be mandatory purchases for all new 360 owners.
hell yes. If you're remotely uncertain about Dead Rising, give the demo a shot. Then try the Crackdown demo. Then buy Crackdown.
@gamefacts - Totally and utterly true gaming facts on the regular!
Shit, Geometry Wars might be my most played X360 title.
Glorious shovel whacking ensues.

The new Sonic for 360 was panned. If you play the demo, the load times will tip you off to what's in store if you buy it. It's really just terrible.
