So my junior prom is this Friday and I'm planning on cutting my hair or at least trying to do something different with it before Friday. Here are some shots from today.
My girlfriend recommended Garnier Fructis Surf Hair. Just wanted to get some input from others. If possible could I get some pictures of some hairstyles that anyone would fit me as well. Thanks.
Go to a salon that's filled with women, and ask them for ideas? That way, you're at least getting opinions from professionals, and not faceless-internet-people.
I comb it because my hair is very thin. So if i were to just towel dry it would hang over my face and it just looks sloppy instead of the good looking messy.

You have the same problem as me, i hate how thin my hair is. Just cutting my hair short seems to have worked out best for me
Yeah I've had it buzzed in the past and while it looks good I still want the sense of having something new and different. Hence why I may do some sort of modeling with wax or gel with it. I'll just steal some of my brothers tomorrow and see if i cant come up with something good.
That hairstyle is kind of feminine, especially the Uhura curl where your side-burns should be. I suggest the tired and true style of a simple comb back.
Yeah, I think it just looks too neat right now. As it is, it's kinda feminine. Your bangs in particular are very cleanly cut - that perfect straight line across your forehead could probably be changed into something cooler with the help of a stylist. Just go to any salon and ask for help with it, it's definitely worth the money. Good luck!
Try various partings. A straight-up side-part would do wonders as far as framing your face differently goes.
Honestly have no idea if it would look good or not. Can't tell how long your fringe is from those pictures. In the first picture, I thought you were combing it to the side. In the rest, it looks like it's just curling inwards.
Make sure you let the sides grow out if you do, lest you end up with a mullet.
Play around with gels and mouse and hairspray a bit.
You actually look a bit like I did when I was a kid, and I went and grew things out to the point where I look somewhat like an Aragorn fanboi. It works for me, but it's not for everyone.
shave it off, go for a really short buzzcut, like you were going into war. Right now you look like a total wuss.
Don't listen to this.
I echo the idea of going to a salon and asking the women and stylists there what would look good. The stylists should especially be able to help think of something that would look good because, well that's what they do.
Your hair is kinda short so that would limit what you can do somewhat. But a good stylist should be able to think of something.
Ditch the fringe. I'd definitely recommend going shorter (like just-long-enough-that-its-not-spiking-up short) and geling a bit. Scruffy faux-70's hair with a suit, despite unfortunate common opinion, is not hawt.
This totally sounds like a lame idea, but how about a fauxhawk? Your hair looks about long enough to have a semi-cool 'hawk, and they seem to have gone out of the main eye, so you could bring back a trend.
Given your existing length (short) I'd modenize it just a bit by going with the slightly-messy look. It's terribly easy to maintain and instead of using gel you can use a dab of a much lighter pomade (I use something called 'Got2B-Playful' which has a retarded-ass name but the product is good and the price is relatively low).
An alternative that has worked for me in the past is to walk into a real men's hair salon (not Fantastic Sam's or Supercuts, find a place with 'stylists') and tell them that you want something completely different and let them pick. They usually come up with something that will match your length/face shape pretty well.

Maybe it's just me, but every time I see someone with a fauxhawk I just want to walk up and hit them. Go all out or don't go at all.
Whatever you do, make sure your front area isn't as straight as it is right now. That includes cutting near your part, or growing out your right side-front.
Going to a stylist and just asking them to give you a new look, with some pictures and ideas in mind are good.
get a bit of wax on your hands and just run them back through your hair
i usually find its easier to do it when your hair is dry
itll raise your hair up so you can style it and get rid of the flat look
and i dont mean spiking it or anything, if you run your hands firmly back through your, then lightly forward to flatten it down just a bit, you can have your hair looking pretty simple but not like its just drawn on your head with marker
this takes a few seconds and works with dry hair so just grab some of your brothers
Firstly, forget wax or gel. There are heaps of other options which are going to make your hair look and feel a lot better. Fudge Hair Shaper is awesome if you happen to see it around - it's Australian but I've bought it in both England and Canada before so you might be lucky. It's kind of goopy stuff that needs really dry hair to work (and rain will turn it into a mess) but it makes your hair amazingly malleable. Great for the 'Messy in a very precise way' look.
Here's what I'd do for an easy hairstyle - grow out a short cut like number 5 buzz on the top / number 3 on the sides until it's just long enough to play with. Put some product in (I think that Garnier Surf Hair stuff is okay, but I've never really found anything as good as Fudge) and make a messy looking spike / faux-hawk on top, but swoop the fringe across (in a textured way) instead of trying to spike up the front. Rough up the back a bit too. Bingo! If you don't have time to grow out a buzzer cut, maybe just ask to have it cut quite a bit shorter - usually you'll be able to work it into something with the right product. What you've got now is a bit too long though.
That's what I do and your hair looks similar to mine - I've had troubles in the past but I've come to admit that without a decent product there's just no hope for me. At least have a play around with a few different options.
I played around with hair today with the surf hair product and right now my hair is just at the length where its not long enough to do anything and is too long at the same time to do anything good looking. So im guessing I'm just gonna get a trim and play some more when its a bit shorter.
Listen to the people, man! Go to a professional. I am not attempting to insult you but honestly, yes, your hair looks like girl hair. You need a professional, preferably a woman, to sculpt your head into something else.
My hair is pretty close to yours except ridiculously curly. If I try to let it grow, it goes in to an affro, cutting it too short makes my ears stick out (yes, yes, I have big ears).
The only thing I've found I can manage is running hair straighteners through it. You can get them for gents and short-ish hair (although you do have to practice NOT burning your head), after running straighteners through my hair I find I can do a LOT more with it.
I also grow mine a bit longer at the front so I can push it up a tad. It doesn't look great but it does me:
and I know it doesn't overly look like it, but my hair is almost identical to yours when I get out of the shower and comb it down.
(sorry about the picture, I only tend to have photos on me from nights out and they're normally dark! And with dark hair? This was about the best I could do without breaking out the camera in work and looking like an idiot)
Then again sometimes I fancy it different to this, after running straightners through it, as I said, I can do much much more.
Do you remember that haircut that ashton kutcher had (or still has? I don't know). It's quite like yours, but the sides and back are shorter to accentuate the length on top.

So I've gotten it cut its basically a shorter version of the above photo without the longer hair on the sides and not much hanging down in the front. I'll be sure to post some pictures later.

Damn straight. And don't go to supercuts. Go to a nice salon, and drop forty+ bucks on a haircut. You'll get an amazing stylist, and just tell her (or better yet, a gay him) that you want to impress your girlfriend and that the stylist should indulge their creativity.

That could work. I would suggest at least doing something with the front. Just looks so plain the way it is now.

See, e.g., Edward Norton's hairdo on this page.

I have a hair appointment tomorrow so I'm going to bring that picture in a see if she can style it like that for me.

Works every time.
One thing that's slightly worrying me though... are you naked in those pics?

He was naked in all the pics, he just has strangely colored body-hair with an odd texture to it, and they shaved him when he got his hair cut.
