For a while now, I've had 3 different types of computer crashes, all of which I'm sure are related, and I'm pretty sure it has to do with my nVidia drivers.
The first two types of crashes are mutually exclusive:
The first crash is a Blue-Screen of Death that pops up whenever I run any processor-intensive games, and it rambles about a problem with a nv4_disp.dll driver. Using the powers of Google, I discovered that this is a rather common error, and the common solution was to just get the latest drivers.
Enter crash type number two. With the latest drivers, I can actually play the game (Supreme Commander in this instance), but about 8-12 minutes into gameplay, the monitor flashes with a multicolor screen for a split second and the monitor just goes into sleep mode. No blue screen. No way to get the monitor to turn back on without restarting the computer. I'm also pretty sure this has to do with my graphics card overheating, but I'm not COMPLETELY sure.
The third crash happens intermittently, and its either an "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error, a "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" error, the special pool memory one, or simply no message at all and the generic Blue Screen stuff. These happen randomly. And they happened before I reformatted my harddrive, too. I've deduced this is probably due to a bad driver, but I can't figure out which driver it is.
Any help in fixing either of these problems would be great. I wouldn't be surprised if the third crash type was just a reflection of the other two crash types.
I've tried using Verifier.exe to figure out which driver it is, but whenever I do, it ends up doing whatever Verifier does to the problem driver right on start up, resulting in insta-crashes every time I turn on the computer.
Edit: I'm thinking a second system restore is the best bet right now...
Pertinent Specs:
Pentium 4, 2.2 ghz
1.5 GB of RAM (2 256 sticks, 2 512 sticks)
GeForce 6800 GT (currently ping-ponging around with drivers on this)
