Can't access .jpg files I copied over from a mac

I've had these .jpg files on my external hard drive (PC) which I copied over from my friends mac computer. The folder containing the photos is called photobooth, and the word photobooth is in green text. The photos inside are also all pictures which I can't preview or open all with their titles in green text. When I try to open any of the photos I'm told that permission is denied. I'm fairly certain I used to be able to access these files, so I'm not sure what's changed. I'm also unable to copy these files over anywhere.

What's up with this? Is there any way for me to recover these images?

Thanks in advance.

Green files are encrypted, which happens sometimes with Mac files copied to Vista or W7. You can try right clicking and going to the file properties -> Advanced and uncheck encryption. Otherwise you can try copying them to a FAT32 file system, like a USB stick that's been formatted to FAT32, which should lose the encryption.

Thanks for your help, Orogogus. I tried both these things and both of them are telling me that access is denied. There's nothing special about these photos, I can't imagine why this would be happening. And I managed to copy them over to my external drive at some point too, so they obviously worked then!

try plugging the drive into a windows system, then do the right click uncheck encryption on all the files on the drive, then try copying them to your mac again.

Edit: Sorry i read that backwards, plug into a mac, uncheck the encription, then try copying again. it probably needs to be on the OS it was 'locked' on to unlock.

I guess I should have asked earlier -- have you changed the Windows login that you use to get into the computer? Only the account that originally copied the files will be able to make changes to the encryption. I don't think even logging in as administrator will give you access otherwise.
