360 Backwards Comnpatability Problems

Just bought Fable. Disk is flawless, not a scratch on it, but my 360 wont play the damn game. Says "Reading..." for a few minutes then it says "Unplayable Disk". I have Xbox Live and my connection is active and working so if it needed to download any update or anything it ought to be able to do that. It's listed on the supported games list. Anyone have any ideas?
