Amalgam [Comics (and the Movies thereof)]

So we all know that Marvel and DC basically hate each other these days.

But such was not always the status quo!

Travel back with me, to the year 1996. It was a gentler time. Marvel and DC co-created the most epic crossover of all time: DC vs Marvel. Thus was born Amalgam Comics.

Basically two brothers who were the living incarnations of their respective universes suddenly became not only self-aware, but also aware of each other. This was a problem, as each viewed themselves as The Universe. Cue Highlander music. What followed was a four-part miniseries, and two sets of twelve individual comics, wherein the heroes of both universes first squared off, and were later merged into new heroes.

So Captain America and Superman became this guy:

Batman and Wolverine join together to become:

While Iron Man and the Green Lantern blend together into:

..and so on.

In the end the brothers were brought to a truce where they each decided they could both exist, and they all lived happily ever after. Except Batman, nobody ever gives that motherfucker a happy ending.

    Haven't seen it either but at this point I'm waiting for it to hit the cheap theater. Didn't feel like paying $10 to see it.

    Marvel Now is -not- a reboot, correct? They're just starting new lines of the comics, not actually starting over?

    Also is it 616 or Ultimates?

    It's 616, and yeah. They're not touching existing continuity, just wrapping up storylines and relaunching titles with new creative teams and good jumping-on points for new readers.

    the aqua-mariner is my favourite though
