Climate Troubles

Let's talk about the climate control problems, or lack thereof, that the Earth seems to be experiencing. I've been reading a number of stories of record high temperatures, crops in various states of disarray, food prices spiking due to these things, large chunks of ice departing from the Poles(I wanted Ice, but this is crazy!), and tornadoes in unusual places, among other odd weather effects, such as lots of rain.
Here in the Northeast coast of the US, I've been getting sizzling hot days, interspersed with loud, powerful thunderstorms with glorious bursts of lightning and rain pelting down so furiously that you can barely see a few feet before you when driving, even with your wipers on maximum speed.

EDIT: Good gravy I've taken a joke thread seriously *facepalm*
I think that a single summer isn't enough to be able to soundly say "whoa there, this climate be jacked". That said, I live in the northeast and I know what you're saying. The thing is, doesn't climate change (any climate change) move imperceptibly slowly? We're talking about a global phenomenon here...right?

Well, there have been global phenomena that manifested swiftly rather than subtly, haven't there? I'm not saying HOLD ONTO YOUR BUTTS, but these things have happened before, albeit under different circumstances, haven't they?
Edit: also, can we make this a serious discussion, just maybe? I have been experiencing odd natural phenomena in my area, and would like to share.

If the storms were a result of global phenomena, how would we know? What if this is within the normal variation? I would expect that we would have record-breaking temperatures weekly, right?

Honestly, should we even be having record-breaking temperatures at all? I assumed that the mere presence of these things were the alarm bell, so to speak.
Isn't it going to do something like that in its old age? Expand, swell up and become red and bloated, then either collapse into itself, or blow up, whichever one Red Giant stars do? My memory fails.

Except it isn't a single summer
Thirteen of the hottest years on record have happened within the last decade and a half.
Also is this a joke spinoff thread from the religion thread because the professor is a crazy person?

If I remember correctly it's been predicted that our sun will collapse into a neutron star or a white dwarf or something, I don't recall exactly. And when it swells as a red dwarf (it won't get to be giant sized) it will most likely destroy the Earth and possibly Mars as well before it's expansion stops.

Ah, there we go. I had read in a book somewhere that, as the Sun loses mass while expanding, the orbits of the planets will widen, as the Sun's gravitational pull will decrease exponentially. Earth MIGHT escape, but be charred, blackened, and ruined, so yeah.

At this point, this is past overkill. Especially because the joke wasn't funny to begin with.

I have made an error
How did it all go so wrong?

Now there's an idea...

Go on, sire.
