Wireless Adapter Keeps Dropping Connection

So, I'm about to lose it.

I have a Netgear Wireless USB receiver (N600 Wireless Dual Band USB adapter). I'm running Windows 8.

It seems like every five minutes or so the USB adapter loses connection. It will disable itself and wont reactivate until I click on the windows 8 wireless connection icon in the bottom right task bar.

My netbook and phone both stay connected to wifi and dont have this problem.

Any idea on how to resolve?

could be an interference issue, try changing the wireless broadcast channel

Update- It seems like it doesn't drop so much in the evening. hasn't done it in about an hour.

@Effef would it be interference if my other devices are picking it up no problem? Just want to make sure before I hit up my room mate, who has the router in his room, to give me the password or change the channel himself.

My best guess is Netgears are finicky depending on the modem. I had an old 2Wire that it never stayed connected to, and the place I live at now has no problem with it.

Changes the channel to an empty one in the area. Hopefully that fixes it! Thanks guys

Not likely if the other devices are having no problems. Can you take this modem to another PC and try it there?
