We are now the proud parents of a girl kitten - mostly grey with some tan hints. Nerdy is fine - but she's a tiny little thing so probably something somewhat dainty if possible...
All kittens have disproportionately large ears though, that goes away slowly and they have normal cat proportions by 4-5 months old, so it won't be as appropriate by then.
Either serious or funny - right now Liberty (after lady liberty since she's greyish and we went to NYC this year so it would be appropriate), Daisy or Diamond.
I tried for 50 Shades but the wife said no.
Another pic in my son's lap (sorry if huge, Photobucket giving me issues tonight)

Im going to suggest what I suggest in every naming thread.

I tried for a long name like Ms Flufflewhiskers but got voted down. Thanks for the ideas - we still haven't decided - I'm guessing at some point tomorrow we'll have an official title.
There is a dog in the Boulder shelter named Jedi Master Snugglepants. Tell your wife you want to name her Snuggle, but just slip the rest in all quiet like, like a Jedi Master.
I tend to name in themes. My Pug came with the name Layla and she answered to it so I decided she was named after the Clapton song. Just picked up a Puggle that I have named Rocky Raccoon. I would call your girl Annie, just tell people she struck you like a smooth criminal.

Right now we're favoring Gem, Ivy (because we learned during the night that she's quite good at climbing), and Echo. I still can't get the wife to go for an awesomely long name.

My sister's grey cat is named "gracious" (aka grey-cious). I always thought that was clever.
Cybertron
Greyshirt
Charm (she's iron grey, iron was used to protect against faeries)

Phoenix, if she's a jumper.

Ugh - we think she has a cold/infection - her eyes are a bit runny and she's been sneezing. Getting her to the Vet on Friday it seems (unless it gets worse). She's eating like a horse, playing a lot, doesn't seem hot so I think it'll pass but want to be safe.

Was she picked up from a shelter? One of my kitties has the same issue when we first got him. Ended up having a very snotty nose for a few days. Poor guy...we would have to wipe off his nose with a warm, wet rag several times a day. The cute part was you could tell how much he enjoyed how it felt.
Got her from a private home - our shelter was out of kittens and we really wanted my son to have the experience of starting a cat from the kitten stage. I'm thinking she'll be fine - we're just monitoring it and maybe will pick up some vitamins they recommend online for her but she certainly eats and plays a lot so I'm not really concerned yet.
She has proven she can scale just about any piece of furniture in the house and gets very ticked off if we leave her in a room by herself, meowing and chasing us. Our current older cat doesn't seem to enjoy her company yet, but I'm sure they'll adjust.
Nymeria: for the game of thrones reference. Because everyone likes game of thrones
Katniss: If you liked the hunger games. Because it's just asking to become a cat name.
Lady viscountess scratchington von fluffyville the second: Because all cats should have a proper title.
Luna: More because it is a female roman mythological figure that has to do with the moon. Luna -> Lunar. But also Luna lovegood if you happen to be a harry potter fan.

I've never read or seen Game of Thrones...I am ashamed and apologize...similarly I haven't read or seen the Hunger Games. I have an almost 8 year old, I see a lot of movies with superheros or singing animals.
Luna has come up a few times in discussion actually - I really like it.

I think Luna is also one of the Sailor Moon cats.

We've decided to go with Gemma with Gem as a nickname. It was neck and neck with that, Gracious and Liberty but it's my son's kitten so he had the final say...and given it wasn't a name from the Pokedex we agreed. She has a vet appointment Friday for the typical kitteny style stuff and to have them check her sneezing/eyes. They said it's likely just a common kitten virus, it'll take a week or so to pass and it might delay them doing her first shot if she has a fever.

For a funny name, I don't know, nothing is coming up. You could always call her "Mostly Grey"

Edit: My wife loves Gracious - veto'd my last minute push for Poupon.
because - "Your cat's name is 'Poop on'"? (although it would be apt for some jerk cats I have known)

Yes, and if you're going that route, Diana would be more appropriate, considering she was gray as well.
