What TV do I want?

I have 1000 American dollars. Need HDTV. What's the best choice?

tl;dr:
I'm looking for an HDTV. Will be used for almost daily for either DVDs, TV via DVR cable box, wii, 360, or ps2. Going in a 18'x25' room about 6' from the couch. I'd like a 16:9 ratio. I don't care if it's a tube or LCD. I don't need a tuner. I'd like 32" or bigger and HDMI inputs.

I'd prefer to pick it up locally to save on shipping. I've been eyeing the Olevia 342i which looks perfect except being an 'unknown' brand and so far (30 seconds of checking) i can't find it locally.

What say you, good sirs?

I picked up a 32 inch westinghouse from best buy a few weeks ago and it's been nothing but a great tv. I have my 360 (vga), my ps3(hdmi), and my wii(component) hooked up to it with my dvr box (component). It's a great tv!

I have one of these and I love it.

If you look around enough, I think you can get one for under $1000. I think. Don't quote me on that.

It's a great TV though, and has dual HDMI, etc etc etc. I use it for HDTV and 360 all the time.

    Olevia's are excellent values.

Samsung and Sharp make excellent LCDs but they're a little pricier. At 1000 you're in the range of some very nice Plasmas as well, notably the Panasonics.

I'd recommend finding a few models you're interested in and then spending as much time as you can reading up at http://www.avsforum.com

    Good luck
