    I think they are mocking the concept of reviewing a game that has been released, essentially unchanged, over and over again since the original playstation.

    I doubt they feel the need to mock Madden itself or the people who play it. Pardon the pun, but there's just no sport in it.

    Like the joke is several things.

    As gaming celebs I'm sure people from ea ask them to review/hype/deal with madden every year.

    They know fuck all about madden or even football in general.

    So...SO many game review shows did this type of 'xtreme attitude' bullshit over the years. Especially in the 90's.

    Like marketing back then was done by the same type of people that would make cheesy psa videos for teens.

    Well, the joke is sort of, "What could change?" There are some pretty significant changes to the game sometimes. Sometimes not as well.

    I think a real Madden player would just view it as a subscription game with a $5 a month fee.

    What's funny is that is essentially what Giant Bomb did. Jeff and Vinnie (I think) played the game and had no fucking clue what to do or how to do it and instead just had fun without saying anything about the quality of the game, and Alex posted a review from the perspective of someone who actually cares about the series.
