Depends. What kind of paint is on the body?

White spray paint, and LEDs rigged as a light up sound level thingy.
(This is my friend's, so I only have half an idea what he's doing exactly)

What kind of white spray paint? Enamel, acrylic, polyester? Using the wrong clear coat on top of a paint job can destroy it.

    Enamel

In that case enamel or polyester would be fine, acrylic should be okay, but might not adhere to the colour coat, or could react and turn a weird colour. At least that's what I remember from when I went to automotive trade school and spent 6 months doing work experience in panel shops.
