So... what exactly is stopping people from just queuing up like six hours worth of ads and just going somewhere else?

Other than the inherent honesty and virtue that fills the internet to overflowing, that is?

Probably mouse-movement checks within the website, or they just won't let you queue stuff up. Also, nobody cares enough. (This business model has been tried with the "ad-supported free PC!" stuff in the 90s.)

Then again... what is this "somewhere else" you speak of?

I only had to watch a 15 second pre-roll ad to see CheckPoint. I can only assume that your seconds are worth half of my seconds. I demand twice as much CheckPoint now!

I have never seen an ad before watching this show. Am I stealing your show from you?

I believe I read about the thing square is doing with watching ads --> play games, and to get around the "walk away while ads are going and come back and play forever" thing, they're limiting you to storing up a max of 1 hour of playtime. But it seems like you can still have the 1-3 minutes of ads going then switch to any of your other 20 open tabs and poke around the other parts of the internet until the ads are done.

Pre-roll Ad? Oh yeah, I totally watched that. Yeah, No Adblock Plus Firefox Extension for me! Nope.

So glad you feel the need to let the people who spend huge amounts of time making free entertainment for you to watch know that you're going out of your way to make sure they can't make a living out of it. Way to go you. You're a cool guy.

I wonder; with the Sqenix service, could you just load up a bunch of ads and then walk away? Hell, next time you're browsing around just leave the site open in a tab, go back and click on a new ad every few minutes, and rack up a bunch of free game time. It's an interesting idea, but I think the potential for exploitation is very high.
