The idea that your vote is a moral statement about you or who you vote for is some backwards ass libertarian nonsense. Your vote is about society. Vote to protect the vulnerable.

Romney is just respecting the convention process by not campaigning, unlike Obama.
Or more likely he's getting a software update for Meet the Press, including new phrasing for "Sure, I have a plan for that but I'm not going to tell you."
I didn't get to see all of Clinton's speech but I did enjoy it. I love how he went after the Republicans on all their bullshit.
I don't know how out of whack 538's stuff is right now with the conventions and trying to factor in for the bounces, but Obama's prospects have gone up again. After tonight, I'm wondering if flipping more than NC will be possible for Obama.

Wait, what? This after the RNC convention in the path of a hurricane? I don't even need to look up where the DNC is to know that whatever weather sprung up there was far, far less of a "yeah, we knew that was coming for the past week" than the RNC bit.
I remember canvassing in 2008. Most people in the neighborhood really didn't want to talk politics by that point (pretty sick of it by October). That usually changed when I mentioned the date and time of the Big Dog's speech at the Minneapolis Convention Center. They were like, "Wait, Clinton is speaking here?"
I saw his speech then, and it was a masterwork that had hundreds of people standing on an uncomfortable hard concrete floor for 45 minutes after waiting for 3 hours for him to actually take the stage. And we loved it.
His speech tonight murdered that speech, married its wife, and adopted its children to raise as its own.

Oops, we moved threads. Anyway.
The radio on the way home just described the Republican platform as "emphasising self-help"

Well at least Krauthammer keeps his consistency.
His consistent insane dumbfuckery?
Being wrong about literally everything. I mean just this past weekend alone heading into pax it was supposed to rain, and instead it was sunny and nice all weekend. Literaly every model we have that deals with probability comes from trying to predict the weather, and how impossible that actually is.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Hahaha,
Fucking clouds, how do they work?
It should be remembered that they blame him for the drought. Again, misinterpreted the phrase "Magic Negro."

The bump from this speech will probably show up on Friday. But so far inTrade is up 1.2% today for Obama winning. Which is a pretty nice jump in a single day.
Woo Pat Leahy! Vermont has my favorite pair of Senators.

God the GOP's hatred of women and Sandra Fluke is sickening. I mean I expected it, but still just absolutely embarrasing how dismissive they are of women, and then insulting by having Ann Romney come out and go "Come on ladies vote mitt."

So uh, someone with more info than me; what the hell has been going on with the 538 Nov6 numbers the last week or so? Not only did Romney get zero bounce from the RNC (not terribly surprising) the numbers for both electoral votes and %chance to win have been going nuts in Obamas favor, swinging far more in a short period than they have so far this election cycle. I know we're closing in on the real deal, but the swing feels really off the charts and I'm having a hard time seeing why.
I mean, after Clintons speech tonight, I would have expected a hell of a bump with early next weeks polls; but they're not based on the DNC...and it seems like they're just gonna go more wonky. Even the popular vote % has moved a (for popular vote spreads) a pretty healthy amount. EDIT: Just read the Sept 4 article, makes a bit more sense but still seems like unusually high numbers. EDIT EDIT: And the nowcast numbers are swinging for Romney, which I imagine are more indicative of his RNC bounce and not on real election results.

Which is clearly wrong. He should have been trying to start a NASCAR race.
Missed this part of the speech, but oh SNAP!
