Why can't there be an anime thread?

Title pretty much says it all. I'm not campaigning for one or anything, I'm just curious what's so terrible about anime threads that they merit a sticky specifically prohibiting them. Anybody know the story behind this rule?

    There used to be an anime thread and it was a constant source of reported posts due to people being unable to help themselves from posting NSFW screen captures or super creepy gifs from harem anime. That's sort of the short version of it.
