Hi All,
I have currently been tasked with setting up an online store for a nonprofit I work for. It doesn't need to be overly complicated. We just have a small number of items that we would like to sell. I guess the only requirements are a simple inventory, shopping cart, and payment acceptance. We already have a Paypal, if that helps. I tried searching for this, but the sheer number of results is overwhelming. I was hoping someone here had some experience in this area.

Yes, we are a registered 501(c)3 in US, if there is a place that would work with us cheaper or free.

Thanks!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that we already have our own domain, and decent website in place. I think we would prefer something that would integrate into our existing site, but I guess we could send people offsite to purchase, if the price/options are right.

I've heard good things about Shopify and apparently they offer non-profit plans - although you'll need to contact them for details as they don't show the prices on the website.

Avoid any system that plugs into existing CMS systems like Wordpress or Drupal. Configuring them can be a nightmare and is not something to do on a tight budget.

The best thing to do would be to find a local graphic designer/web designer who designs stores and can help you for free or cheap.

If your site is based in wordpress (I know this contradicts the above post) there's a plugin called e-shop that works pretty well. It's free, but there's some configuration you have to do. It's not THAT difficult though and there's a ton of video tutorials out there about it.

Otherwise I second shopify. It's cheap (if not free depending on your needs) and works well, plus it's secure.

are YOU on the beer list?

Our current site is actually in Wordpress, which I can't stand. Would Shopify run into issues because of this?

I contacted Shopify and they were willing to offer us some pretty decent terms, so I am leaning towards them right now.

    Thanks for the suggestions!
