We all know that the Gamecube is dead. No more (worthwhile) games, and not much in the way of purchases. I sold mine for a Wii a month before launch. Somehow though, whenever I walk into a gamestop, I end up walking away with a Gamecube game. color me perplexed. First it was
Fire Emblem:Path or Radiance ($20 and Top five cube games), and soon followed
SSX On tour (10),
Battalion Wars(10),
Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles(20),
Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures(20)
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat(12 with bongos),
Super Monkey Ball(10), Viewtiful Joe(10),
Prince of Persia the Sands of Time (15),and
Killer 7 ($20 and top 10 cube games).
For gamers out there who genuinely dont care much about graphics, and want to play some great games at budget prices, theres a whole world of old Cube love still avaliable.

Killer 7 is in no way a top 10 game.

Circuit City is awesome for cheap games. I just picked up Contact for $17.

I don't think that the 'Cube's graphics are that bad either. Certainly better than the PS2...

Personally, I'm looking forward to playing through a ton of games on my Wii that I missed on the Gamecube. I've picked up 6 or so, so far. More than enough to hold me until some new, worthwhile Wii games are released.

I should also start picking up some PS2 games...

Okay, what didnt you like about it, and what would you rank in front of it?

Man, I know of a lot of stuff i want to get for the PS2, and sorta half assed saving up for one. I've just always hated the dual shock. If i could use the 360 controller on a PS2 itd be a win-win

That's 10, off the top of my head, better games. My point was, don't get too excited about it. You can get any of these games for under $20 now, except Twilight Princess.

Gamecrazy usually has better used prices than Gamestop, and they have higher standards about disc quality.

Its all a matter of personal opinion, and in my opinion i wouldnt rank either mario game or any Resident evil before 4 higher than Killer 7.

    Best Cube games?
    1. Resident Evil 4
    2. tales of Symphonia
    3. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
    4. Metroid Prime
    5. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
    6. Super Smash Bros. Melee
    7. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest
    8. Metal Gear Solid: the twin snakes
    9. Killer 7
    10. F-Zero GX

people still think that Gamecube games aren't graphically pretty? I thought that particular brand of idiocy died out with "olol celda".

With regard to being a cheap game buyer, I sort've unintentionally became one thanks to WoW stealing 2 years of my life. I started trying to catch up on the gems I'd heard people raving about, and have been playing pretty much nothing but old games for the last few months. It occurred to me that staying behind could be a pretty cool way to game. Sure, I've got no idea what my friends are on about when they talk about strange things like "Wii" and "360", but I'm playing for a 5th of the price they're paying.

I'm currently working my way through Prey, Fear, FarCry, Shadow of the Colossus and DMC3, and I didn't pay more than 20 bucks for any of em (that's AU, so even less in Americaland dollars), and I couldn't care less what everyone else is paying 100 for - I'll get to them eventually.

I bought that too, today actually. They also had Rocket Slime for the same $16.96 price, as well as Phoenix Wright. There may have been more but those are the three I saw that I wanted for that price. I'll be heading back to get Rocket Slime come Friday.

Also almost partaked in the "Buy 1 $10 UMD Movie get 1 Free" deal.

dot-com, people. I'm surprised more people don't scope it out.

And by the by, SSX On Tour is totally not even worth $10. You could have spent that $10 on Tricky or SSX3 or put it toward Blur.

I did notice in my trip to Circuit City today that the few PSP games I wanted were =/> $40, which made me kind of a sad panda. I bought one a few months back and I can see that merely the price of games for it is limiting me to enjoying it perfectly.

Metroid Prime is $5 used at EBstops. There's no reason not to buy it.

    Indeed.

And in my experience, Gamecrazy is more expensive, has a lower selection of titles and the employees seem more elitist than at EBStop.

As much as I like the idea of Metroid Prime and watched a few friends play my copy (one to completion), I couldn't get into it myself. Something about adding a 3rd dimention to platform jumping seems to throw me off big time.

My cube is horibly underused as well, just Fire Emblem, all the REs, Skies of Arcadia, Smash Bros, Zelda:OOT, Giest, Killer 7, MGS, and PSO (1,2,3).

I hit up pawn shops all the time. I have five local stores that sell games, and they all are under $10 each. Last week I got RE4, God of War, and Ratchet and Clank 3 for about $20 total.

I too am trying to catch up on GC titles to play on my Wii. Recently I picked up a wavebird and SSBM, because its a must and for the nostalgia of the many classes missed due to playing that game in a friend's dorm.
I also walked into Gamestop and picked up a near mint copy of Eternal Darkness for $10, minus the instruction booklet. Im a Lovecraft whore, btw.
What else is there worth it? Im looking at RE4, Windwaker (altho I finished it back when it came out), Soul Calibur 2 (best version due to Link). Saw Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance brand new for $14. Is it a definite buy?
How is Geist? Seems interesting, but Im not real sure.

The only thing that makes me sad is that the Wii has been playing mostly non-Wii games.

Geist has an interesting story and premis. I paid between 12 and 14 for it and I don't regret it.

PoR could have easily been a GBA game (minus the cutscenes and 3d background) so it's a solid FE game. Just the lack of quicksaves.

As is Viewtiful Joe, WindWaker, and countless other awesome games. Really, this is the best time to buy Gamecube/PS2 games. The classics are all like $5-$15 used.

There's a lot of games I absolutely need to have the day they launch, but I really like buying cheap games. I've been getting a lot of GC games I missed out on (only had a GC for a year or so) since Wii launch, and since I got a GBA Micro I've been extra motivated to pick up older GBA games (playing them on DS is a little awkward).

    WTF I HATE MY EBGAMES!

All of the ones in my town price their used shit at aroun 39.99. I've never found a single item at the advertised price. But then again I only go in there to browse now-a-days since they tried to claim there was a special "video game tax" as their excuse for doubling my price on Hitz 2003 (yes, quite literally they tried to charge me 100% tax.)

You guys remember that Jungle Beat + extra bongos for $10 deal? It was $65 at mine, and didn't feature extra bongos. Hell, it's still $65. Everytime I see stuff like Battalion wars for $10! I get all excited, then I go in, and they wont honour that price, or even acknowledge that it's not supposed to still be $49.99.

Buy every game you mentioned. RE4 for sure. If your worried about playing the others first, then stop worrying, and play the best game of last-Gen. Fire Emblem was a definate buy for me (its on my top 10) so at 14 bucks its a huge bargain. Refer to the posting i made earlier about best cube games, as well as the link below, for must haves on Nintendos purple lunch box.

Living in Guam was torture. Even the players choice games were $25 (Everything was AT LEAST $5 more due to shipping). The only reason Narc was 19.99 was because that price was part of the cover sleeve art.
