Wondering if any PAers who live in the greater Chicago area know of delightful locations at which a four-person bachelor party could kill a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. I'm looking for gaming / arcade / bar sorts of establishments.
So far by means of Yelp I've found:
Emporium Arcade Bar (http://emporiumchicago.com/) It's a bar, that also happens to be an arcade. The yelp reviews seem to be quite mixed.
I drive past Ignite gaming every day. I haven't gone in, so I can't say much besides that there's always people there and seems like a happening place. I haven't seen Arcades inside though, mostly computers, LANs, and consoles. There's also Dave and Buster's that's more arcadey and restaurantey than Ignite.
I called the Ignites Gaming place and they seemed friendly and happy to accomodate our needs. So I'm leaning in their direction unless someone comes in here and states that the establishment is suxors, or has a better idea.
I thought about Dave and Buster's, but that place just rubs me the wrong way. It's like a TGI Fridays with a shitty overpriced arcade in the back.
Also, if anyone has suggestions for a nice bar / pub in downtown Chicago for lunchy food that'd be great. Yelp reviews for bars seem to be worthless most of the time. I'd trust a random PAers judgement over someone on Yelp.
I have friends who like Emporium, but I haven't been there or to Ignite myself. Dave and Buster's is alright, but the others are probably better options. Gameworks is a better version of D&B's, but all the way out in Schaumburg so probably better another time.
Bar/pub downtown? You could do something like Miller's Pub near the Art Institute. Been there for ages, not a bad spot. Or you could do something like the Gage on Michigan Ave across from Millenium Park. Better food, but also pricier. Or maybe something like Purple Pig or Avec if either is open for lunch.
If you want a place with a lot of arcade games, Galloping Ghost is I think $15 a person to get in and then has something like a few thousand arcade games (everything from old vector astroid machines up to newish fighting games) set to freeplay. No liquor though.
There's a Gameworks by Woodfield that might work better for you than D&B's.
Tilted Kilt is about half way between a Hooters and a strip club and if your beer isn't on special, it can be like $15 a bottle.

Does The Tilted Kilt suck or rock?

Paintball?
Not sure you can play with four people but it might be possible to join another group.
I think I've settled on Ignite Network. Now just need to find a food place.
Any thoughts on Timothy O'Toole's Pub? (http://www.timothyotooles.com/chicago/)
Edit: Except Ignite Networks just decided to be closed this Saturday. So, fuck me.

They don't list it on the website, but they also had a large whiskey selection last time I went.
