Borderlands 2: Mechromancer dropping today (Oct. 9)
Posts
It's like a 1% chance to drop after you beat him the first time... so yeah

Just going to ruin this for you right out of the gate. But on the plus side it might save you some time.
Damage in PT2 and 2.5 is so high that tanking doesn't exist.
Fuck that then, I'll wait for a patch.
To elaborate: anything with a gun that's even remotely accurate will fuck your shit up so hard it's comical. My Axton is 4 levels above enemies in P2 with 12k shields and a little more health than that, those numbers simply don't matter in a fight. I wish enemies dropped the weapons they use, because they're packing SERIOUS heat.
I'm just gonna take off my shield and re-equip my Bee so I can save on sniper bullets. On the plus side I found a +45% AR/Sniper/SMG ammo relic! woot!
Currently playing: GW2 and TSW
My build is this:
Guerilla
5/5 Sentry
5/5 Ready
5/5 Willing
5/5 Able
1/1 Scorched Earth
5/5 Grenadier
1/1 Double Up
Survival
5/5 Preparation
5/5 Pressure
5/5 Quick Charge
3/5 Resourceful
I have a class mod that adds 4 to Sentry and 5 to Resourceful.
With this build, I can throw out my double-barreled slag missile turret every battle. Turret triggers Able, and every time I or my turret kills something it triggers Quick Charge. So long as I use a high-capacity shield, I pretty much never die as long as I don't charge headfirst into things. This is on 2.5, also.
I used Last Ditch effort for a bit, and it's mostly good if you solo. But now I'm in boss farming mode and teaming up with my friends, so I ditched that. Now I'm pure dps and our Siren can focus healing everybody else.

Also, I liked that they had that weapons tutorial quest in the game.
Yep.
Also, used my golden key today. Got a nice Electric SMG for my Maya. It's great since I'm about to start running into stalkers en masse.
Debating whether to level up more before I hit D.M. in Lynchwood for farming. Will she level up to my level or abouts when I get to that area or stay static in playthrough 2?
Not trying to shill/spam this, but if you guys are willing to have a program running, I built a tiny app that checks the twitter feed for all 3 platforms, and notifies if a new PC code is available: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B1WTBQcToWrATnVBc29HdWg2V2c
From there you can just hit a button to copy to clipboard and paste it right into BL2.
In bl2 with the tvhm label and whatnot it seems like they are chasing something like D3's inferno difficulty.
Unfortuantly I've never felt like high difficulty in shooters is especially appealing. If you cant avoid the damage, its just frustrating
And the sequence where it happens is AWESOME.
Speaking of Awesome, I may have a new favorite quest.
Actually it might still be my second favorite. The early game sequence on
They don't even drop their guns in pt2? That's a somewhat disappointing change from the first game. I've had a couple of times where I saw an enemy with a Torgue gun or a rocket launcher and was disappointed when they didn't drop it.
All human enemies dropping whatever gun they were using in pt2 of Borderlands was one of my favorite things about it.
Well, first off, it doesn't reduce bullet damage by that much. It has that high a chance to absorb the bullets. So the rest of the time the bullets will hit and do full damage.
Which, to give you an idea, my 50k shields drops in a couple shots.
This comment, along with the fact that we in our group use snipers 99% of the time, makes me think I should have chosen the assassin instead.
This is wrong. You can easily tank as Maya:
5/5 points in Kinetic Reflection.
Mod that gives +5 points to Kinetic Reflection.
Literal immunity to bullets.
So, I guess I'm building up an alt Axton after I finish up PL1 with my Salvador.
PC SHiFT Code for a Golden Key in Borderlands 2: CTCTB-3BTZZ-6BBJJ-TTJTB-JXCHC [Active until 6PM CT on 10/6]
Xbox 360 SHiFT Code for a Golden Key in Borderlands 2: CJKT3-WRK5R-3XR36-KRJJJ-5XJZW [Active until 6PM CT on 10/6]
PlayStation 3 SHiFT Code for a Golden Key in Borderlands 2: CJKT3-WRK9J-6ZJ53-SJKJJ-5XJTR [Active until 6PM CT on 10/6]
And just FYI again for anyone who cares, according to Randy, future SHiFT codes should continue to drop from the @ GearboxSoftware twitter and not from Randy's account itself.

Axton is still super awesome, but I mean I just don't want you to get disappointed when you can't face tank damage because you will die.
Survivability stuff still helps, but you're going to need to avoid as much damage as possible regardless.
(Not to mention that toward the game more and more stuff that's going to kill you becomes not-bullets)
Nice.

It's really not that bad, man. Not as Axton, anyway: I've got 5/5 Willing, and both class mods and relics that increase my Shield's recharge rate and decrease its delay. I've also got like 10/5 Preparation, 5/5 Healthy, 5/5 Forbearance, etc. And with 5/5 Pressure on top of all that, my recharge delay is through the goddamn roof when my health is low.
I've said this before, but with the right shield equipped, I can sometimes fully recharge while under fire.
There's no reason to wait for the patch, man. I mean, yeah -- sometimes enemies hit so hard it feels like you really need to stick to cover and pace yourself, but I found it no more frustrating than other shooters.

Thanks for posting the codes here! Its highly appreciated!
just beat the
given that prelude, i was fully expecting the fight after that to be enormously frustrating
but the RNG gods smiled upon me, and in the marcus vending machine just before you reach the top, i found this beauty:

it made that fight easier than it was on PT1. seriously, it's a goddamn corrosive hellfire and it just melts enemies 2 levels above me in scant seconds. big AA turrets went down in 1.5 seconds, average loaders in about the same, angelic loaders in about 3. i was able to go completely in-your-face run and gun for the entire battle. loved it.

its nice if you pair it with the firehawk shield, with the boosted fire damage. its not great though, yea.
also, for the bunker fight, if you stay on the lower level bunker basically cant hit you and other enemies rarely/never come down there. just snipe his weakpoint once he opens up and be a little patient and that fight is a cakewalk.
I'm noticing now that when it's fully depleted, after the initial delay it only fills up to half, stops, and then I need to wait again before it goes to full.
Something in the game changed. When I just exited, Steam downloaded a BL2 update.
It's weird because now it's back to behaving like normal, but for at least half a dozen Terra runs, I'd lose my shield, and then with nothing else hitting me it would only refill to half each time.
WHen he's moving I think the Tremors are stopping shield recharges.
Of size? I don't know if a brief one means anything, my game momentarily says its updating x% every time I close it after playing online for the past few days, which I have assumed was just a weird indication of it cloud syncing.
Remember where you put a certain skag too?
It's there.
You need to complete the "Where Angels Fear To Tread" mission, if I remember correctly.
Yep, I just did it myself earlier today and the Demon Hunter quest popped up immediately afterwards along with a bunch of other sidequests in Sanctuary etc.
I mean I could go into the whole explanation about how orange weapons fill the same niche that pearl weapons did in BL1 and that purples and etech in BL2, along with the proliferation of quest rewards with unique effects, inhabit roughly the same tech level, but if it didn't work the first dozen times this came up, I doubt it'll work now.
