What's the ettiquite on hitting on my roomate's brother's ex? I just hope I didn't commit a faux pas hitting on her last night... Man... pubcrawls are the greatest invention bars have come up with yet.

How is everyone else this morning?
I don't hit on my friends' exes.
And, not good. Tired. Haven't had a good night sleep in a week. I feel hungover, but without having taken any alcohol. That sucks.

The brother of someone you have to live with? As long as the brother doesn't drop by every other day, you're probably fine.
I spent 5 hours in an ER last night because Maddie had some sort of weird infection that made it hurt so bad that she refused to pee, and all the doctors were closed, and so we needed to have her catheterized so they could get a urine sample, which was pretty fucking unpleasant for everyone involved. Turns out she had a bad reaction to some "organic, all natural" soap that a friend used to give her a bath, but it seems to already be mostly better. So I got about 4 hours of sleep, and now I'm at work.
Stupid fucking organic shit. I'm going back to chemicals designed in a lab by a cackling mad scientist. At least they don't make my daughter piss blood.

I think the seatbelt laws are a pretty good yardstick for government regulations, but only because of the argument that they prevent social monetary costs like added healthcare expenses, and the like. I don't give two shit about "emotional trauma", and I don't care to protect people from their stupidity for its own sake.
The problem with this sort of approach, though, is that it sort of assumes that whatever existing safety nets or social programs we have are necessarily good and wise and wonderful. If we were to, for example, abolish the policy of providing healthcare services for people who were injured in auto accidents, and simply shoved wounded people to the side of the road where they were free to call for an ambulance if they were still conscious, then most of this argument goes out the window (or through the windshield, as the case may be). Not that I'm advocating this, but it's useful in pointing out that the "externalities" argument is heavily dependent upon existing policy, and can be dismissed if the policies were to change.
It's true, but the programs that invite the externality argument are either economic necessities created by the private market (insurance) or public services based very firmly in national values. For this reason they aren't lightly shifted or altered.
I say we ban hospitals and ambulances. Make it mandatory that every motor-vehicle and every occupied structure be equipt with a needle and thread. If you know how to sew and have a high pain tolerance, you get to live. Maybe.

He goes to school in Montreal now... we live in Saskatoon. No problems there :P
Loren: I appreciate your enthusiasm.
Richy: I know when I had sleeping problems that drinking the night away helped me sleep better. I was having quality of sleep issues, not quantity (or falling asleep) issues, but it's worth a try. AND, you get the bonus of being drunk. :P
Jeffe: I hope she's all right. Sounds she's doing better though, so that's great.

She seems to be all better. The doctor told us to give her warm baths every few hours, because it would relax her muscles and soothe her girly-area, allowing her to pee without much pain (in the tub, that is). This morning she told me she had to pee, hopped on the toilet, and went without trouble, though, so I guess she's fine. She was just in pain long enough to drag us to the ER all night.
Ah, parenthood.
Though really, watching my daughter scream in pain while being catheterized is probably about the least fun experience I've ever had. Of course, when they gave her stickers afterwards, she cheered up really damned fast.

Solution: set fire to snow.
If you have fire, why bother with shoveling?

If she's tapworthy, etiquette doesn't matter.

Oh well, it's all unimportant now. I hit on her, she's gone now, so blah.
Richy, are you all stressed out about your Russian friend still? Did you H/A thread help any?
Loren: she so is :P
... unless sleep distubances travel backward in time. Interesting...
@ Hap, you may be on to something too...

Glad it worked out ok.

Stickers fix everything.
She selected Princess Barbie and Batman.
