I've said it before and I'll say it again. Podly's the prettiest girl around.
But... I'm the princess...

Where do you live? If it's anywhere near New York I might have a few suggestions.
It's not near New York. But thanks anyway.
EDIT: It's Waterloo, Ontario.
Sorry, man. I happen to know a lot of Russians in New York, some that have gone through similar situations. Unfortunately, any help or advice I could provide is only applicable here.
I wish you the best of luck.
Well, if you want I can touch base with some of my Russian friends to see if they have any advice, but given your location, it's a longshot that they'll know anything relevant.

These have been bouncing around the office for a few weeks. Brad Neely is one of the most talented people writing on the internet today. He is right up there with Onstad.
These are probably NSFW due to profanity. They will make your day 200x more awesome. Also, one of his best videos (Bible History #1) isn't listed on that page for some reason but it is on the site if you poke around.

I'm the ugly one with the good personality.
Oh god, high school flashback...

I missed my high school prom because the girl I was going to ask to it asked out my friend because I was too pussy to pick up the phone and ask her in time.

She's actually Ukrainian, not Russian. Though she does speak Russian IIRC. So if one of your contacts needs a Russian speaker in Waterloo, she's your man... err, woman.

I didn't go to prom, because I wasn't going out with anyone and I went to an all boys school and I was taking Katie or Jess as a friend because my Prom was $320 per "couple" AND FUCK THAT NOISE!

She's fluent in both Ukrainian and Russian (two different languages)? Well, I'll talk to my friend when she gets back from Cancun this weekend. I'm not sure how far her support system or contact sphere extends.

Prom was overrated. I went to two. I wish I went to none.
I did enjoy the weekend AFTER my school's prom, at the Jersey shore.
Probably not - we have a two hours on, two hours off curling schedule, during part of which we're generally supposed to be eating lunch or dinner - but if you want to swing by the Elmira Curling Club for a beer, I will be there. :P (There's a bar IN the club, which is fabulous. I'll be needing a stiff drink after the games, since I haven't actually played in, oh, a good year or so. )

I know a few Ukrainians too.
I do believe she is more fluent in Russian than Ukrainian. Russian is spoken by more people, after all. So, national pride aside, it is a more useful language to know.

It was explained to me that if you speak either, you understand the other; supposedly, most of the difference is word order.
Of course, this was explained to me by a Ukrainian chick with limited English fluency, so I could be wrong.

I could use a drink, and I'd love to swing by. But I don't have a car or any means of transportation. Can you give me a ride? :P

Yeah, kinda. I knew this Latvian girl that hated to admit that she was fluent in Russian, because she hated Russians and Russia.
A lot of people hate Russians. There's so much anti-Russian hatred from Europeans, it's just...well, peculiar.

The whole "you know...as friends" thing was a total turn off.

I don't know any Ukrainian but I'm pretty sure that's not totally true. I believe Ukrainian shares the same Cyrillic alphabet and there are some (probably many) similarities, but I think it's less grammar differences and more vocabulary and pronunciation. At least, that's what I remember from the Ukrainian girl I briefly dated.

Probably not, unfortunately. My friend who will be driving doesn't let other people drive his car.

It either meant
a) Don't try and pull and funny stuff
or
b) Oh God please kiss me please!
fuck. that. noise.
Mine was "as friends" too, but that was my doing for one of them. I thought the girl was cool and all, but she was physically hideous. She also asked me to marry her via AIM a little while later. Sigh.
My own high school prom was "as friends" and my date's brother came along as her girlfriend's date. So, with my date's brother in the limo, my chance of fucking her was nil.

As a Ukrainian, I can say with some assurance that it is mostly in word order.
And, I don't know why you jumped to the subject of the Cyrillic syllabry, (It's not an alphabet. It's a syllabry.) but yes, it is the same one.
Our equivalent of a Prom is called a Ball (used to get no end of childish giggles).
There was a GCSE ball, a 6th Form ball, and a leavers ball.
I went to all three, was a little tipsy at one of them and horrifically drunk at two of them. It wasn't really the thing to do to take a girl, it was more a place to have a piss around with the teachers.
There was a teacher who slept with a student in my year though, his name was Mr James, so when my head of year got up and did his speach he happened to come to the line:
"and the teachers have tried to get especially close to the students this year"
Me, being a) a bit of a cunt, and b) unable to resist as I was a bit of a joker, came out with, like a flash:
"Especially Mr James!"
Not an inventive line, but said loudly infront of a large audience with that much audacity, like I had balls the size of melons and made of steel, it gets everyone laughing. Even the head of year started stifling a laugh behind his hand.
Then the girl who had slept with the teacher decided to come to the bar afterwards and shout out loud to everybody:
"Somebody in here deserves a slap... And his name is [my name]"
Or so i'm told she did. I was too drunk to notice at the time.
Not a great story but one that has some value.

I vote we all send her like... Five, ten dollars via paypal or something.
Why won't you let me be your friend?

You don't always have to fuck her hard
