Social Tentropy/Forumcamp 2013: Date Decided! July 19-22

THE MOST PEOPLE ARE AVAILABLE ON THE LAST THREE WEEKENDS OF JULY. PLAYING IT LOOSE FROM HERE UNTIL I HEAR FROM CAMPGROUNDS.

Do you enjoy nature?

A lot of Cool People on this forum live in the Pacific Northwest, and a lot of Cool People also enjoy the aforementioned, so here is what I propose to you, SE++:

JcmdG.gif

It is a travesty that we have not had an SE++ camping trip. Granted, pasty nerds aren’t generally all about roughing it in the wilderness for multiple days with no wifi or microwave in sight, but I offer the following reasons to come camping for those of you who are scared of nature:
Don’t be a fucking baby, step outside of your comfort zone and come hang out with people who are only cooler than you because they enjoy camping

FORUMCAMP2013 is an event for those of you nerds who are up to the task of getting your party on in the middle of the forest (read: a state campground with reasonably well-maintained facilities).
FORUMCAMP2013 will take place in Oregon, because fuck you that’s why.
FORUMCAMP2013 is going to happen some time during the months of June and July. We need the weather on our side for this.
FORUMCAMP2013 is open to Pro-Posters and Lurkers alike. No creepers or bigots though.

If we’re gonna do this, we need to do it up big. We’ve got interests to check, decisions to make, and pallets of PBR to acquire*

DEADLINE SCHEDULE:
Sign the fuck up**: December 31
Decide on a location: February 28
Decide on dates: April 30
? ? ? ? ?: ? ?

I was debating waiting until January to even post a thread for FORUMCAMP2013 but then I remembered how much fools like to debate things on “teh internetz.” FORUMCAMP will be decided the one true way: a lot of bickering and then a popular vote wherein at least one third of the group will be unhappy with the decision. Democracy, ya’ll.

Any questions? Ask awway! This is still in the preliminary stages of being planned, so I’d like as much input as possible to make this awesome.

*note that no substitute “shit tier” beers will be allowed on the premises of FORUMCAMP2013. Rainier is the only exception to this rule.

**I don’t give a fuck if you’re “not sure” whether you can make it or not, if you’re interested then sign up so we can get an idea of how many camping spots we might need and so we can take your opinions seriously. If you end up backing out at a later date that’s fine, but I want the planning stages to account for the maximum number of people possible.

Camping is indeed awesome and the outdoors is rad. Sucks if you're a baby that hates to leave home because you're scared of some weather or bugs.

Summer of '11, usagi and I went camping up by Mt. Baker at the Douglas Fir campground just outside the town of Glacier. Great campsite with only pit toilets, pump water, and loads of trees so it was nice and shady. And it's right on the bank of the north fork of the Nooksack River. Beautiful area.

Considering the fact that I spent the ages 11 to 15 "camping" I'm going to take a pass on this. However, I am willing to meet up with anyone who wants to stop by Portland before or after that whole...thing... Is over.

I love the outdoors, despite my hefty frame I love hiking. I adore fishing although I never get to do it. I love cooking out, toasting marshmallows and baking bread in camp fire coals. I love wilderness sounds and stargazing

The only reason I hate camping is because I can never sleep.
Give me a sweet cabin or a baller RV with a real queen bed to retire to every night and camping is the duck's nuts.

My favorite place to camp is Assateague Island in the eastern shore. Basically a campground on an island where you can set up your tent a stone's throw away from the shore, oh and there are wild horses just roaming the island and they like people! It is pretty magical. Plus, it's a short drive away from ocean city, md and Bethany beach and all that jazz. Haven't been in years, but I have fond memories of camping there and petting horsies

You should all just go to Banff.

Because Banff is a silly neat name and Oregon is a name associated with people dying on their way to it.
