Hello PA!
I have 2 cats and several trips coming up that require me to be gone more than 48 hrs. One cat is food hungry all the time, and would eat all of his food, and the other cat's food if he could get at it.
He was put on a diet and did well on it, but now the other cat loves the taste of the diet food. So I have to worry about each cat eating the other's food, or the fat cat just bingeing.
For trips, I have tried having someone come over once a day to feed them their whole portion for the day while I was gone. Unfortunately my fat cat binged ate, and I came home to vomit everywhere.
So PA, what are your experiences with automatic cat feeders? I need one to be able to have programmable timed feedings. Price range is preferably $100 or less. Any brands you guys swear by?
I have read up about the Lebistro pet feeder
here and it has very mixed reviews.
TL:DR: Recommend an automatic cat feeder for $100 or less.

You can set up to 0-3 meals a day (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) at whatever time you want. The meals can be in sizes from 1/4 cup up to 2 cups in 1/4 cup increments.
Our cat is on a diet and has a thyroid condition so we keep it on the smallest amount of food and only feed twice a day. Runs off 3 D batteries that seem to last forever. We've had it for several years and no issues with it. We never remember when we last changed the batteries so it always seems that when we go somewhere longer (ie Christmas), to be safe we put in fresh ones. We use it all the time, just for consistency for the cat.
So the feeder, a 8 or 12 pack of D batteries ($20?) should last you probably 2=3+ years.
I think the main advantages over the Le Bistro one is that you can fine tune feeding portions, you can set as many intervals as your timer supports. It's got this little shaker panel so food doesn't get stuck in it and it can handle food of just about any size/shape. You can also buy hopper extensions if you don't want to have to refill it as often.
