So I am trying to decide if I should purchase a GCN. They are 75 dollars brand new at my walmart. I have not played Twilight princess or Metroid prime 2 and a few other GCN games that have been out. What do you guys think?

Depends if you ever plan to get a Wii or not. If you don't, then yes. If you do, then no.

There's no reason not to pick up a preowned one, they're fairly robust machines. If you absolutely must have one, go preowned.

I don'y buy game systems pre-owned, but I got a steal on a beat to crap, ebay Gamecube. 5 years ago. It still runs like a champ.

For $75 new, or $50 used, I might go get another one, an ethernet adapter, and set up some Double Dash.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, F-Zero GX, Viewtiful Joe, Pikmin 2, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker... I'd say you should get one if you're not getting a Wii.

Yeah, at the prices they are now, the only reason not to own one is because you do/plan to own a Wii.

I honestly don't think anyone could say anything bad about the Gamecube, as long as they're not a mindless fanboy. While it didn't have the breadth of titles that the PS2 did, it did have fantastic graphics, and a core of games that are absolute "must-plays". I don't think any of them should be missed, and if you bought a second hand Gamecube and picked up some of the more popular games, you wouldn't be disappointed.

Plus, it has to be the most accesible party console available right now.

Cubes are great for those TVs in the house that don't have Wiis attached to them. They should be more ubiquitous than DVD players, in my opinion.

Controllers alone go for $30/$40 on eBay (in the UK anyway)... Used.

If you're going to get a Wii anytime soon, hold off. I bought mine for $70 with 4 or 5 good games, an extra Wavebird, and memory cards. If you can get a good enough deal where you'd be willing to pay that much just for the games it comes with, you might as well. They're dirt cheap these days.

I was very close to getting a GC just to play Twilight Princess, but I decided to wait...Wiis should be actually availible sometime in April, I've heard.

Agreed.... cube in the bedroom, Wii gets moved around a lot. But at least I don't have to move it to play a gamecube game.

my GC sits in it's box for the occasion I may need both the cube and the Wii out, or I need the gameboy player. neither situation has presented itself as of yet, but I can see both happening. especially with that shit hot TMNT GBA game about to be released. I could put it into the GB player, and get the true SNES feel

Yeah, as regards a Wii, if you were looking to get one of those, then the big reason for the GameCube is the GB Player.
