Yugioh: Swing and a miss: Pendulum summons on the way

Yugioh!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyt2WTV9P3s

It is a card game for children. It is fiendishly overcomplicated. And it is
FUN
AS
HECK

What I want to know is: Do we got any closet Yugioh-ers hovering around the forums? Did you use to play as a kid? Would you like to play again maybe? I missed the fad when it came around, never saw the attraction myself. But recently a friend of mine blackmailed me into playing a couple of rounds with him online and I just can't stop playing.
So! If any of you fine people have an embarrassing affinity for the game, or heck, if anybody is looking for a hobby to eat up your spare time/brainpower, come forward! Let's be embarrassed and great together. It's free!

I will duel with literally anybody who is up for this thing. Hey if enough people are as terrible as me and like this game then we could get together some kind of tiny forum tournament! Wouldn't that be fun?

I've heard of this. An interesting program but supposedly you have to handle everything manually when it comes to how the cards' effects play out. Another program, YGOPro, is apparently more automated in that regard.

DN gets points for not needing any downloads and being up-to-date, so you can log on from any computer for a quick cardgame fix. There's also a rankings system if that's your thing. YGOP sure does have looks on its side, though!

Eh, I liked 5D's. If you're already watching an animated series based on a card game, you really can't balk at the game being given an 'XTREME!' take with the Riding Duels. Of course they ditched that with the new series' protagonists being younger. Augmented Reality monocles are the new toy now. It would have been interesting to see Konami trying to work that in with the 3DS' capabilities if they had continued the World Championship series.

don't get me wrong, I love the card game and the inital series, but almost every series after that has been balls to the walls crazy. hell, even the hair has gotten out of control. I will give them props for trying to keep it fresh but each new gimmick gets sillier.

  • OwenashiOwenashi Registered User regular
I guess so, but it's still presented in a way better then other shows like it (even after 4Kids takes a dubbing stick to it). For example..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVzmlx9ZHi8

As for the new cards 5D's and ZeXal introduced, they're pretty nice though I haven't tried XYZ Monsters in an actual Duel yet.

  • SnerkySnerky call me trick the c is silentRegistered User regular
XYZs are great! Rank 4s in particular cover a wide range of effects, so if you've got a deck that can swarm level 4s your extra deck can be kitted out for most any situation, without needing Tuners.

    EYDHoqw.png
  • OwenashiOwenashi Registered User regular
Well I did score a Samurai Warlords deck a couple of days ago if just to get a hand on an actual XYZ Monster. It and the rest of the Six Samurai cards included look pretty nice though I'd probably tweak it some first before trying it out in a Duel. The fact that it comes with a Tuner makes me wanna find the 6S-Synchro too.

And for anyone who wants to see what the actual Redakai card game is like...

You could always test out various Samurai decks online! Six Samurai are ridiculous at swarming the field, but they tend to vary in levels, so they seem to be a lot more comfortable with Synchros. But yeah! No harm in working online, find the best way to make them work for you.

I always wanted DMoC. I just liked the look of him and I bought a lot of Invasion Of Chaos packs for him. Closest I ever got to him though was this guy.

    2vOq8.png

Hilariously enough, BLS is now allowable in a deck while DMoC and Chaos Emperor Dragon are still verboten in regular play. Something that episode of GX kinda predicted.

Yeah I could never play it for real, the deck I use online comes to about $620 altogether. How is a kid meant to have that kinda money! Geez.

BLS is really great, pretty often the complete turning point when my deck's doing badly.

I always wanted to try a 'Shining Darkness' deck based around the upgrades for Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Red-Eyes Black Dragon, even though I never had a Fusion-inducing card. Then I learn a few days ago that Konami did something with a similar theme with that Dragons Collide Structure Deck.

That's why I loved the World Championship games as it had almost all the booster sets in one cartridge, even if the three based around 5D's made you go through several hoops to get stuff beyond the Dark Beginnings/Revolution sets. Mind you, I only got the first 5D's one, Stardust Accelerator. Never got past the first story-area. Anyone here play the other two?

    i have two

one japanese one english both foils

i got the japanese one when i was early in my yugioh career (like, 9 or 10) and i traded a bunch to get the same copy in english because looking up what the card actually said was a pain at the time and it was one of my favorites so yeah of course i wanted two

where the fuck are my cards

Went through this after I got my YGO-interest sparked again. That moment being when I found the first 5D's Starter Deck and Duelist Pack: Yusei Collection Tin at a local Wal-Mart for 30% off. Lucked out in scoring a second Junk Warrior and a Stardust Dragon in the tin. :) Mind you, I'm more of a Red Dragon Archfiend fan...

Just tried out YGOPro and jeeeeesus that is way too fast for me. The way it automatically kicks you both out after somebody wins was a little jarring, too. Think I'll stick to DN for now.

It's a fun game. Plus it stems from a series in which a murderer was burned alive via vodka and a cigarette which is pretty metal. That's the correct term, right? 'Metal'?
