In the past this has been due to someone using an unsafe avatar. Not sure if that has anything to do with this specific instance.

  • DruhimDruhim Registered User, ClubPA regular
Yeah, a user had his avatar hosted on the site that flagged the warning but he's since corrected that.

There is like a 99% chance that it's somebody's avatar, and the only reason I'd expect it would be fixed now is if the person with the unsafe avatar is no longer the last poster in a thread. If people figure out who it is, we can warn them about the problem (and/or mods can take care of the problem more easily).

Edit: And there we go, then. Huzzah!

Got a new warning on Chrome today when trying to access D&D: forums.penny-arcade.com contains content from www.wowpedia.org.

Just checked the source for the D&D forum, and looks like Astraphobia's avatar is stored on wowepdia.org.

I'm getting the wowpedia.org flag too.

EDIT: it's not just for SE++ either; it's for random threads throughout the forums.

Astraphobia's profile page immediately brings up the warning on Chrome/WinVista32bit saying that wowpedia.org is a known distributor of malware.

maybe asking @Astraphobia nicely to change or rehost his avatar as a temp fix?

I guess a major ad network was compromised and was serving malware, which caused a lot of domains using that ad network to get flagged as hosting malware themselves.

No actual problem here, of course.

I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us

Yeah, a major ad network Curse (owns Wowpedia, MMO-Champion, etc.) was using got compromised so it's not surprising that avatars from their sites were getting flagged. I think they've sorted things out with Google now, so people wouldn't need to change their avatars at this point. But probably should, because hotlinking is usually bad.
