    Okay, knock on (varnished) wood, I think the Vanilla status site is right about this issue being resolved now. Have been able to access pages for quite some time now. The cache server was NOT varnished around 11:30 (PDT) as somebody claimed, though.

    Happened to me as well. I waited for about 20 minutes and now I'm logged in again. I've also seen a 503 error when trying to navigate to a thread.

    If there is a problem with the backend servers (such as was the case yesterday when we were having trouble with Rackspace), the cache layer will serve back guest-mode content instead, to allow at least some version of access will the actual forum is really down. That's why you seem to be "logged out for a bit". You're not really logged out, your cookies are just being ignored temporarily.

    Yeah, I tend to see 503s every once in a while, like today, around lunch time (I assume this is due to extra traffic during people's lunches).

    Seem to be having a sporadic issue for the last hour or so, similar to this but not sure if it's the same. Will randomly be logged off and get an error saying: "Something has gone wrong.
    We've run into a problem and are unable to handle this request right now. Please check back in a little while."

    Just got a 503 flash, it logged me out gave me this popup when I tried to login:

    Got this 3 times in a row, but wasn't affecting my ability to view forums, would sign me out tho, and 503 me if I tried to sign back in. What's weird, is I could back up on the browser til I reached a page I was signed in, duplicate the tab, and close the original, and would be clear for a few minutes

    Same exact thing that happened to @Usagi just happened to me. Was logged in, tried to post and was given that error, and realized it had logged me out and wouldn't get back in for 5 minutes or so.

    So to be clear, this is not a bug, this is when there's a problem with the network on our hosting infrastructure and the app servers become unreachable. The 503 is when that has happened, AND the cache has become stale.

    Though I'll admit I do rather like the idea that it's actually symptomatic of Geth fighting the shackles that presumably struggle to keep them in check.
