Windows 7 swapping between speakers and headphones?
Hey all,
I've got a question about swapping between speakers and headphones. As it stands, my speakers are plugged into my computer all the time. When I plug in my headset, (Logitech G35s), it automatically switches the audio to the headset. Clever.
The thing is, to swap back to speakers I need to unplug the headphones. Not a big deal, just an inconvenience.
What I'm wondering is, is it possible to keep both plugged in at the same time and just use a menu setting or something to swap between them for the audio? Or have it so that both volume bars (for the speakers and the headset) show up at all times in the taskbar sound thingie so I can just mute the speakers when I'm using the headset?
Also, first world problems

Select the device you want to use, then click the "Set Default" button.
You can also force Windows to show volume control for both devices by right-clicking on the sound icon and clicking on "Volume Control Options". The default is to show volume controls for all devices currently outputting sound.
@Dhalphir @nwk
this works even better
i had same issue, now i have a global hotkey that i hit and it switches from speakers to headphones
real easy, because going in the menu is a pain in the butt
Ah that's pretty cool.
What do you use for your hotkey though?
but you can use whatever you have that's not being used
BTW - I know that that's an old topic. Sorry for that. That's the problem with forums, when you want to update old topic it's surfacing it up and make some people angry... sorry.
