Prototype 2 on an i7 processor

I have just gotten Prototype 2 on my new laptop but I expected it not to have any problems on it. Its a i7 processor and 2630qm. I'm not good with the tech stuff so I hope the computer nerds get what I'm talking about. It runs really slow and one of the reasons I got the damn thing is cause i heard it would run a lot faster. Can anyone solve my problem?

A question like this is better suited to the Help & Advice Forum.

Even though you don't mention any other specs on your laptop, it's likely that your video card or RAM are the bottlenecks (in that order of likelihood.)

Any idea what video card is in it? If not then post up the make/model of laptop.

    I'm using a dv7 6163us.

According to PC Mag (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2388455,00.asp), it's not so good at gaming:

When it comes to gaming, the dv7-6163us is more in line with lower-priced mainstream systems than its desktop-replacement brethren. Its frame rates of 12.7 frames per second (fps) in Crysis and 19.5fps in Lost Planet 2 (both at resolutions of 1,024 by 768, with graphics details set to medium) show that its integrated graphics system is not well suited to that kind of intensity—just as is true with our midrange Editors' Choice, the Asus U46E-BAL5 ($749.99 list, 4 stars).

ya sorry, the GPU in that chip just isn't that good.

your best bet to get prototype 2 to run would be to lower the resolution to 1024x768 and put all the settings on low.

Yeah, lowering the resolution will probably make the biggest difference in terms of playability. It seems like integrated graphics cards are STILL not up-to-snuff compared to non-integrated cards (stuff from NVidia and ATi a.k.a. AMD, basically), especially in laptops. I'm totally willing to give integrated cards the chance at this point, but for some reason they still seem significantly behind.

An easy way to tell if your machine will run a certain game in the future would be to go to the Systems Requirements Lab and it'll test your machine against the recommended/minimum specs for most games. It'll also tell you what part doesn't pass.

I'm thinking of changing the motherboard. Is this possible without changing the processor?

You are not changing the motherboard in your laptop.

Laptop motherboards are custom built for the laptop model their in, you can't change them.

If your not happy with the lack of a discrete gpu in that laptop your only option is to return it and get a different one.

You can't change core hardware elements in a laptop. That's what desktop computers are for - upgradeability.
