which is why it makes no sense to bring up every half a second
y'all got a goddamn fixation
My walls are plastered in varying printed Equestria Daily articles, the word "BRONY?" written over them in some red substance at seemingly random intervals. Possibly blood; possibly not.
Sounds like the setup to the worst episode of the X-Files.
Should I like, change the thread title or something? Is it pulling in the wrong crowd?
I don't recall the previous 8 threads or so getting this much spontaneous entry of "hey, just showing up to say I don't like people who watch the show."
Changing it to MLP:FIM might help it get lost in the noise. People who's only familiarity with the show is being annoyed by fans will probably just skim over the unfamiliar acronym.

I was watching the Laurn Faust interview from the LA con she was at. She told a Q&A person that she didn't really watch the show, (which is understandable)
However she said the reason why she didn't watch the show was because "it still hurt too much" in such a way that you can tell it upset her...
Oh my goodness, all my hugs! ;_;

I'm unfamiliar with what happened. Did she get booted off the show or something?
I know she left to pursue her Galaxy Girls project shortly after helping with season 2 scripting. I wasn't aware that she left on bad terms; hopefully it's more along the lines of "it hurts to say goodbye to a project I really cared about" than "the production crew treated me badly" :-(

It's hard to tell exactly what the issue between her and Hasbro is. I have listened to quite a few interviews she has given and she has never directly said what the issue was.
The closest thing to an explanation is that she has stated several times that DISNEY is very accommodating in allowing her to be more creative. (not the exact words but something along those lines where said.)
I think Hasbro must burn the creative process down to the minimum that is needed to get a show out to sell toys and Laurn Faust wanted something else, possibly a show with more creative control that she was offered after season 1 finished.
Nothing is really known about what happened but i am sure its more that just one thing.
Huh?
No she was just sad she left. Going to Canada all the time was a logistical nightmare for her. That's all. Hasbro didn't do anything. She just bit off more than she could chew. What made it so sad was you can tell she adores the fandom, and her creation is going on without her. It would be hard for me to watch too. That's it.

I'm implying (speculating) based on her comments from the Mid year Bronycon and her new comments from the recent convention in which she stated:
* "I would return to My little Pony if the conditions were right." (midwest)
* Disney are accommodating towards the creative process. (bronycon)
Her complements towards Disney at Bronycon are a read between the line way of saying one of the things that was wrong with Hasbro.
I'm speculating that she wanted Hasbro to be more accommodating for the creative process and she wasn't given it. I don't get the feeling that it's just that she bit off more than she could chew. I think there is more.

Bronies are not "people who watch the show."
They are simply a part of that group, much in the way melanoma is a part of your skin.

I feel obligated to post this in every thread cause its still my favorite PMV. Plus it uses a clip from every episode of seasons 1 and 2.

Can someone enlighten me as to the definition of "Brony"? My enjoyment of poines extends to watching the show, and I have pony desktops (Fluttershy at work, Rainbow Dash "Not doing shit today" at home), and I've used the word Brony in reference to myself. Am I making some huge mistake?

I'm pretty sure the second you do something that's not just watching the show or talking about it with your immediate company, you're in the Brony world. The trick is not being weird about it.

I typed up like four or five things trying to express my disbelief at your utter inability to get what I am saying, and...I don't even know.
Basically, Big Red Tie is saying that taking a children's TV show way too seriously is the equivalent of having your skin cells over-multiply to a lethal degree.

Bronies are to My Little Pony viewers as Trekkies are to Star Trek viewers.

On my way to classes, I regularly pass by two young men who often wear MLP t-shirts. I think to myself, "Hey, cool, something in common."
I do not speak to them. Which would be worse? The guy who wears his Rainbow Dash t-shirt every thursday, or the guy who stopped that guy to comment on the fact they both watch cartoons?
(No offense meant to cartoons. Cartoons rock. Screw growing up. I'mma watch Cartoon Network till I die.)
So what's a good episode to watch to "get" the show? I saw the very first two and they were okay but I didn't feel the need to see any more and apparently that is Not As Things Should Be.
That was pretty much my reaction. After the first two, I thought "it's better than I thought it would be, but not really my thing...", then I watched a few more, and somewhere along the way I went from "ok, that one was pretty funny", to "I think I actually like this show now", to "Goddammit, the season 2 ending was legitimately one of the best finales of that season. Fuck."
I do think the episodes improve after some of the early ones (most of my favorites are in season 2), but there also seems to be an element of just getting used to the characters and letting one's cynical-grump defenses down a bit, once the Manliness Police fail to materialize and batter down the door for card-revoking purposes.
In short, I'd recommend just watching them in order, but "Party of One" from near the end of the first season does show the extent of hilarious and slightly disturbing mental breakdowns the show is willing to put its characters through.
Man's not wrong, though. I don't really get the obsessive parts of the fandom myself. But admittedly, it's not a particularly novel or worthwhile contribution to the thread. It's alright people, you can post about the fun cartoon without everyone assuming you're masturbating to Pony tentacle porn or something while typing, you don't need to preemptively call out dem freaks what does the weirdnesses, etc.
The only thing that annoys me about most of the fans is how humorless some of them can be. Like, I will never stop finding it hilarious that I like this show.

No, you made it.
I made the comparison that "A part can be bad without making the greater whole bad." You suddenly said "Making fun of bronies is like making fun of people with skin cancer."
That is a terrible comparison. Knock it off.
Also, melanoma is not the person with the melanoma. Jesus fuck.
