I have had a Toshiba 20" TV (model 20A42) since April 2003.
Here I am March 2007. The TV has been great for the past few years, but within the past month, it turns itself off after 15-30 minutes as if there's a power outage. It isn't turning itself off like a TV normally would by turning black, but rather popping and losing the picture from the border to the center of the TV - without me turning the power off.
To turn it back on, I have to unplug it from its socket in the wall and replug it. Otherwise, it doesn't respond to the remote or the Power button on the front of it.
I have already trouble-shooted the socket by plugging an extension cord into an operating socket and plugging the TV into the cord into the extension, and the problem persists.
The TV has been on when the power has gone off, but it wasn't like this problem started happening after it's gone through a power surge or suffered a drop (never happened). It's happened on its own.
Does anyone know if there's a part that might be missing? Is it time to get a new TV? I understand a repair shop can charge $70 to diagnose alone, so I was hoping someone here may know what's going on.
Thanks in advance.
