Quick search (or replacing Google Desktop)

I am still using Google Desktop for one reason. they have a tool that, if you tap CTRL twice a search box comes up, and that search opens your browser. It is a very useful tool. Unfortunately, between a new version of Windows on my work PC and the fact that Google discontinued the product updates, that feature is spotty at best.

Anyone have any other suggestions for something simple that allows a short keystroke to pop up a search box?

    I think Launchy can open a search for you? I'm pretty sure that was a feature I personally turned off while I was using it since I just wanted the easy file searching.
