This is my favorite film of the year. Nothing else even comes close. It is a crime if Day-Lewis doesn't get his third Oscar because of this movie.
Before seeing this, I had never personally witnessed a movie viewing at a theater that concluded with a standing ovation from the audience. This movie brought everybody in my packed theater to their feet at the end credits. It was a beautiful moment.
The biggest laughs my theater got was during the, " Grandpa Lincoln tells another story" scenes.
The George Washington one was priceless. As was one of his Cabinet officials going, THAT'S IT I CANNOT HANDLE ANOTHER LINCOLN STORY!
The biggest "dawwww" was when,
Stevens takes off his wig and hands his black, common law wife the 13th Amendment.
Cmon man. Don't you know that feeling? Like when you're eating a sandwich that you want to hate but the meat ends up being too fresh and too well portioned and you're all like "Fuck" and your day is ruined.

Same. That was probably my favorite part, especially when
immediately after making a scene and leaving at the mere thought that Lincoln was about to tell another story, Lincoln smirked, and started telling the story, like nothing had just happened.

I love that moment to
and reinforced the idea to me that these stories were a planned and well rehearsed mechanism for dealing with people

Same. That was probably my favorite part, especially when
Steam
The guy that left was hamming it up in the best way possible
"OH GOD NOT ANOTHER ONE"
Also it took me forever to place Wood, halfway through I was like "oh shit it's the Piemaker"
Haven't seen him in anything since Pushing Daisies went off the air
