I will be your host, the Headless Not-Horsemen-Because-There-Are-No-Cavalry-In-This-Game. Perhaps, for ease of time, I shall shorten it to Headlessmannocavalry.
I am here to regale you with the tales of horror and mayhem, of glory and honor; Tales of Chivalrous Combat!
But between who you ask? Well ignorant foreigner let me make known to you the brave warriors who shall meet on the Field of Combat!
On one side you have the Agatha Knights, proud men of noble lineage, they fight for King and Country! For the Blue and Gold!
Opposing them are the Mason Order, the rebels who seek to bring strength to their nation once again! For the Red and Black!
And how shall such distinguished soldiers be fighting you ask? Well, I won't tell you, but I know of some accomplished fighters who can!

But what is the point of such pointless warfare you ask? I'll ignore what a stupid question that is, and forego the boring geopolitical conversation for the more immediate concerns. There are five types of goals currently in the game.
There is the standard Team Death Match, a brawl between one team and another to exhaust your reinforcements until one side stands victorious.
There is a Free For All, a brutal gladiatorial game between accomplished foes, each battling to see who can rack up the most kills
There is Last Team Standing, make your blade swift and your arms strong, for your death must count, or come not at all. In Last Team Standing, there is no chance for resurrection until all of one team have been killed, or the time runs out!
There is also King of the Hill, which side can beat back the other and lay final claim to title of King of An Unimportant Dirt Hill in the Middle of Nowhere? We shall see, once the blood dries and one team lies broken and defeated who has better claim to this worthless patch of land!
Finally, there is an Objectives mode, where one side attacks and one side defends, the attackers must accomplish certain map specific goals, one after the other, and the defenders must keep them from achieving these goals until the time runs out. It's a race against the clock, and into the blades of your enemy!

In a manner of speaking, yes. It's 100% multiplayer, and the combat is in the same style (first-third person medieval combat) but, despite my great love for Mount and Blade, I have to say the combat is much better in Chivalry. It's very much easy to learn, difficult to master. You can get right in and have a lot of fun knowing only the basics, or less, but getting really good takes some time and it feels very satisfying to outplay a competent opponent.
The worst thing about M&B was holding a castle and having everybody besiege it as soon as you get more than a day's ride out.
Or towns being pillaged.
Yeah this doesn't really have any of that. It's basically counter strike with swords, and I love it for that.
But I guess if you're looking for something deeper than stabbing you might be disappointed.
Try using one button dodge, it's what turned it around for me.

I was in the WotR beta and really liked it but I never pulled the trigger after release.
(it does have cavalry, even if it is weird and blocky and awkward)
