TV woes

I'll make this short. The lady and I recently purchased a TV off of tech.woot not too long ago. It was a 42" Hisense. Got it in Friday and didn't get to check it out till yesterday. The picture on the thing is faaaantastic. Sadly, I think theres something wrong with the inside bits. When the TV is on, it makes this terrible high pitch noise that doesn't go away until we turn the set off. Even then, if its still plugged in you can still hear a faint ringing sound when you've got an ear up to the back of the set. I remember reading in comments that people were having problems with sound, but I'm pretty sure they were referring to a high pitched sound when changing channels. Has anyone had this problem, or know of anyone that has had it? Is the TV fubar?

Is it a plasma? I had a really similar problem with a Sammy plasma and it was unfortunately just a manufacturing fault, they replaced it with one that had the same problem, it's something to do with the power (hence it being there all the time) and nothing to do with the speakers (I had mine turned off as I use an external amplifier). If it is that there is the possibility of getting it fixed, but it does require replacing parts. With the Samsung I complained enough until they gave me an LED to replace it. (This did take around 6 months).
