Quick, easy, legal source for Win7 media/ISO? (And can Win7 be installed from a USB key?)

That is pretty much it. I upgraded one machine to Windows 8 and I don't care for it. I cleverly do have the media for that, so if it stops being annoying and/or becomes required I can go back. I mean, not really, since by that time I will have lost said Windows 8 media, but you get the idea.

I've looked all over, and despite the fact that at one point I owned 3 (3!) OEM copies of Windows 7, I've managed to mislay all three disks. Ideally someone would point me at a MS download for the media and failing that a safe and at least not obviously criminal torrent site that has a standard Win7 iso. (But really, truly standard. I don't want something that has been cracked or what have you).

Note that I'm only looking for a copy of the Win7 Pro OEM install media. I have a license key stuck to the top of my machine, I just can't find install media. If worse comes to worse I can probably talk MS out of a replacement disk; at least I have been able to do so in the past. But I'd really rather just download it instead of relying on USPS. And also, I need the basic system builder OEM media, as I'm sure my key wouldn't work with a retail copy.

On a slightly related note, does anyone know off hand if it is a) possible to install Win7 from a USB key? and if so, point me at a quick instruction set for so doing? I know that right after Win7 came out I was building an earlier incarnation of this machine and had gotten an IDE optical drive when I needed a SATA drive and fiddled with it for an evening without success. But the next day the correct optical came and I let it drop. But it would be a nice thing to have on a usb key, so that I could put it in my drawer full of usb keys full of stuff. I'm sure all the Linux builds would beat it up, but possibly it and Solaris could be friends... Who knows? Maybe NetBSD could finally get a date to the prom. The could talk about embedded systems or something.

Thats a pretty great thread bringing all the links together, ms hides so very well that if you don't know what to look for finding them is near impossible.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar and I am in your debt. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. It makes me wish that either H&A or Moes had a faq of this variety, so that I could lobby to ad such a thing. And somewhat more seriously, a part of me is tempted to try and quote that post in its entirety before this thread is locked (which it now should be, assuming my machine doesn't melt) so that there is a local backup. That is incredibly useful and as my weekend of repeated Googling demonstrates, not easy to find.
