A Conundrum....

Greetings all, I will try and make this short and sweet.

6 months ago I quit my job, high stress levels, incompetent people, long hours and no days off. Had a ton of money saved up so i went to Australia for 2.5 months and had a nice relaxing vacation. Now that I have returned, I need to get a job again. Now I do Industrial Refrigeration (think Ice Rinks) which is very specialized and dangerous...and hard to find different companies nearby to work for. After some searching and a few job interviews these two options are the best ones on my plate.

1) Go work at a chicken slaughterhouse where I have a good reputation with everyone there. Except the building is an ABSOLUTE shithole with everything falling apart. Literally. I'm not joking. Pay is a little less, but enough for me. Also I would have to work with my old company and steal some/most of their work and would make for an uncomfortable work environment. Chances for advancement are slim, but there nonetheless.

-OR-

2) Go back to work for my old company, which will take me back. It does mean working with the same dumbassess and putting in the long hours. The only reason I am considering this is for the money. This job would be to make money and rebuild my bank account in a very short time. During said working time, I would be searching for another job elsewhere, possibly overseas, because the only jobs nearby are shit jobs with shit companies.

So that's my problem, and I would appreciate any and all advice.

Option 2 is probably the better idea if end goal is to get out ASAP. If you know both options are gonna suck, might as well choose the one that will suck for a lesser amount of time.

Have you looked out of the area? If the skills are that specialized/rare a growing company might be willing to help out financially with a move.
