THE END OF LIBERTY
Background information about the event:
Brought to you by the team behind the Rumble in the Bronze events of the past two years, and sponsored by Gameheart, "The End of Liberty" is a charity fundraiser event raising money for the Child’s Play charity through a collection of exciting show matches, custom games, and general Starcraft 2 shenanigans. The aim of this event is to provide the community with some entertainment during the holiday season, and to promote the wonderful work that the Child’s Play charity does, especially around this time of year. Last year our event raised over $18,000, and with your help, we can top that this year.
Casting the event will be
Evil Genusis' Geoff ‘iNcontrol’ Robinson and Australian PA Forumer Shawn ‘Seguer’ Murphy. The duo will be accompanied by a cohort of other well known Starcraft 2 players, including, but not limited to:
mTw.DimagaiSAxslavLiquid'TLOAnna Prosser Robinson
And, as always, there will be a selection of more… ‘casual’ players joining the pros for some fun and games!
So with the end of the world looming, and the end of Wings of Liberty just a handful of months away, why not spend some of the precious few hours left with your fellow gamers, and help out some children who could use some fun in their lives during this time of the year?
Here's the schedule of events!
Starting at 4 PM EST
Segment 1 - Beginning of the End - TLO & Dimaga
Segment 2 - Pros and Joes - TLO & Dimaga
Segment 3 - ImbaCraft - Axslav vs the Imba Imba World
Segment 4 - Main Event - ??? Tune in to find out!

ed: This entire event is put together by all PA Forum folk. Here's a brief history of how all this came to be:
2010
A handful of folk from the G&T Starcraft thread decided to do a showmatch and have donations go towards CP. Why not, right? The event was called the Rumble in the Bronze and it was put together in just a few weeks. They reached out to a well-known professional player, EG.iNcontroL, to help cast and together they raised over $3,000, well over any of their expectations.
The crew were all just regular folk, from various parts of the US, and at least one member was from Germany. All met through the forums. No one had done anything like this before nor of this magnitude so everything was being learned and done on-the-go. It was fairly challenging, to say the least.
Team:
@Joe K @Klyka @Kedinik @Trus @MNC Dover, and whoever else I've forgotten (sorry!)
2011
Last year, around the same time the PA G&T SC2 thread folk figured to give it another shot. The team this year had some new members replacing old ones, as users come and go in these forums. This is where I first got involved. It was definitely a Motley Crew as we had members from the US East and West coast, Canada, Germany, and Australia, of varying ages and backgrounds.
We started planning 6 weeks ahead and although there was some experience from 2010, we realized there was a ton to be improved on. We reached out to iNcontroL once more and after 6 grueling weeks of work, meetings with weird time zones, discussions, arguments, lots of sweat and a little blood, the Rumble in the Bronze managed to raise $18,000 and become a CP Platinum Sponsor. Again, well beyond any of our expectations.
Team:
@Joe K @klyka @Kedinik @Seguer @rts @redraptor @MNC Dover @3clipse @MMMig @Jaef
2012
Here we are again, and yet again a different, but dedicated, team. Some old members, some new. This year the event is called the End of Liberty, to play on the Mayan calendar thing as well as the end of the first Starcraft 2 iteration (expansion comes out in March).
We started planning 8 weeks ago. Once more plenty of work, discussions, and table-flipping arguments.
The light at the end of the tunnel nears, this Sunday, and we're pretty damn excited about the event.
We have a few more Starcraft personalities who've agreed to play for us, along with regular schmoes.
Team:
@MMMig @Kambing @Anzekay @Narwhal @MNC Dover @Jaef @3clipse @Seguer @rts @redraptor
2013
Odds are the team that does it will be different again. I might not around, who knows. But I'm confident the Starcraft PA community, which materialized in these forums out of ones and zeroes and forged from comradery, will get together once more for this good cause as it's the right thing to do. That's what we've learned... nay, that's what we've inherited, from the Penny Arcade community.

If anyone has questions about the event like how the schedule will be broken up (when will TLO be on vs Dimaga, etc.) or anything in general just post here.
Also forgot to mention, Anna Prosser will also be playing.
Former Miss Oregon and a big part of the eSports gaming community.
As an added note:
We're just a handful of friends putting this together. No corporate sponsorships (GameHeart isn't a company ^^), we're not hiring industry pros, 100% volunteer effort.
Same as last year and we raised $18K due to the awesome community that gamers are.
You guys really gave us a reason to do it again this year, and it's going to be much better!
(we actually sort of prepared this time)

The post is primarily to spread the word.
We want the entire gaming community to enjoy the event so just watching is enough.
I know that not everyone plays Starcraft but the event is tailored to be enjoyable by any gamer.
iNcontroL's casting is simply hilarious, to say the least.
You're also more than encouraged to re-tweet, post the FB event on your wall, and tell your grandma about this event.
Use this as your pitch at the dinner table:
Since the end of the world is coming, no one will need their money anymore so why not donate it?
It'll help your chances at those pearly gates.

Yeah I think the impression some got was that it was an outsider's event :P You should be more boastful of how much time you waste in G&T MMMig.

Guys, I recommend giving this a watch, and a donation.
Twitch (I stream most days of the week)
Twitter (mean leftist discourse)
I am 100% sure though that what the guys will deliver is going to be absolutely fantastic and I urge everyone who is even remotely interested in StarCraft 2 to watch this.
I wish I knew about it earlier.
I have connections with some of the sc2 pros. Next time I will see if they're be willing to help play and/or cast for it.
I'll get the word out in the meantime
@Klyka No worries dude! We know that live changes just like going from level 1 to level 2. Recording those Back to the Future commercials with my Marty McFly accent is one of my fondest memories.
@neville Awesome, thanks!
@theSquid Actually yes there is! We're working on a "highlights" video from last year and it should be done in a couple of days.
There's some truly glorious footage!

I'm still blown away by how well we did last year. Kinda sad we're not sticking with the Rumble in the Bronze theme this year though =\
I'll post details later tonight.
There'll be pleeeeenty of chances for iNcontrol to cast those games.

I remember the first Rumble in the Bronze from back when I lurked the SC2 thread. I had no idea the event kept growing.
Looking forward to this! Almost makes me want to fire up SC2 ladder again.
iNcontrol does fantastic commentating. At PAX this year my buddy and I spent about an hour at the Kingston booth where he was just doing running commentary while Justin Wong played MvC3 with whoever wanted to play him. Spent the whole time laughing, and I hope he does well for this event as well.
Not this year, no.
He's a very funny guy. This should be great.
Good video to get an idea of how last year went- http://www.twitch.tv/rumbleinthebronze/b/302270691?t=23m0s
Well, shit.
Twitch Stream
Too bad I don't really play SC2 anymore because I would love to have my ass kicked my incontrol.
You may still watch, and be entertained!
I speak to far too many gamers, and gaming-related companies, that have no clue what Child's Play is.

For Justice!
Also, I'll be posting the event schedule later today. You'll get an idea of the type of games we plan on having.
Didn't get to it last night as I had to finish one of our videos for the show. >.<'
