It's an attempt to make a more realistic WW2 FPS, and while it was a fun game when it was first released it was a bit of a loveable wreck mechanics wise. But a year and a half of patching later it's actually a legitimately good game now. The squad system works, the cover system is less obtuse, and just in general it feels better to play. Supposedly there is a Pacific Theatre map/conversion pack coming out soon.
I find it to be a fun large scale mixed arms realisticish WW2 game, if that at all sounds good to you give it a shot, it's f2p until tomorrow at 4 PM EST.

Most iterations of MoW are pretty lame but Assault Squad is really good multiplayer fun and you should all buy it on steam
It's like Company of Heroes only rather more realistic in various ways (with worse graphics but better physics) and also it has the Japanese and Soviets! All the terrain is destructible and/or useable as cover! Tanks have discrete components and stuff!
one time I drove a Cromwell through a church and crushed a Pak 40 emplacement I didn't even know was there but then the church sort of fell on my infantry following the Cromwell so the advance was a tactical failure
American GIs like to yell "For the motherland!" in midwestern accents
If the enemy is in range they will notify you that "AIM IS IN THE REACH ZONE"
but otherwise it's a good game! If you want a fix of meticulously modeled Soviet armor while waiting for CoH2 totes buy it bro
