Should My Monies Go to Dragon Quest or Ghosts 'n Goblins?

So I've decided to spend my weekly gaming dollars on either Dragon Quest: Rocket Slime for the DS or Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins on the PSP. Both are right over $16. Which would you get, if you had to decide?

(Or should I wait and get the TMNT PSP game?)

You are dealing with polar opposites in terms of difficulty.

I loved Rocket Slime but it was too short. Very easy during "Zelda" style gameplay, pretty difficult at times during tank battles.

I would get it, but that's because I'm not much of a G&G guy.

I loves me some Super Ghouls and Ghosts, and am having a blast conquering it on my Wii. However, I've heard the PSP revival is not as good, so I dunno. I've heard swell things about Rocket Slime, so I'd probably get that. I really don't know your preferences, though, and these two titles are about as different as you can get.

I know. I'm just trying to spend at or below $20 this week for a DS or PSP title. Rocket Slime is $16.96 at CC and I can get G'nG for $16 with my discount at the CompUSA I work at.

Any other DS/PSP $20 or below suggestions would be welcome, I suppose. :P

    Well...

Rocket Slime is fun, but it's way too short unless you want to spend several hours killing 30 enemies of a certain type each, which seems a bit ridiculous and doesn't add anything to the gameplay unless you plan on doing "wireless battles against your friends"(tm).

Dunno about the fidelity of PSP GnG, but really, it's difficult, and it's a platformer/shmup. Can't really go wrong with that either.

You may be able to find Advance Wars DS for under 20. If you find a used copy of Lunar Knights, then grab it.

That would depend on how often you like to holler obscenities.

    Very Litte: Rocket Slime

    Whole Bunches: GnG

Yeah, Rocket Slime probably isn't worth it if you don't know anyone else who has it. Thus, it probably isn't worth it.

It's a pity that the download is only a single-player demo. It would be cool if there was an option to do six-player single-cart multiplayer.

Ultimate GnG is not quite as finely tuned as the previous games in the series, meaning that it's a little more frustrating at times than some of those could be (if you can believe it). However, if you love old school arcade sidescrollers, the game is a treat. I think the visuals and audio are really amazing, and in that sense it's a brilliant revival of the old games. Just expect to get really mad at it about every 10 minutes.

Rocket Slime is more then worth it at $16. While short, it's very enjoyable and has some extra objectives at the end you can tackle if you want. Most of the game is pretty casual and easy, but there are some difficult parts, especially in the option tank battles at the end. Rocket Slime is definitely on my list of best DS games.

I spent 20 hours of pure gaming bliss on the game (getting all the unique slimes, a la Pokemon) and never did any of that shit. Don't talk trash about a game for things that aren't even true.

Rocket Slime is a fantastic, long-lasting and often hilarious game that is great fun to play. Highly recommended.

You mean I hallucinated the whole "kill 30 of every villain so you can use them later in wireless battles with people?"

Piss off. I have Rocket Slime and I love it. That's the truth. If you don't like it, blame the game. Or God.

I have the game as well and don't remember doing that either, so while YOU may have done it, it isn't compulsory to finish or highly enjoy the game. It's the same as catching 900 or so Pikachus in Pokemon: it´s certainly possible, but who really does that unless they hate themself?

Looks like you decided to give yourself some selftorture for whatever reason and are now trying to blame the game for it. Classy.

    Are you retarded?

I said I liked the game, but it was too short unless you want to go on the stupid collection quest that is completely pointless unless you plan on playing wireless battles.

I didn't do it. I still enjoyed the game. I didn't blame the game for shit. Read my first post next time, jerk, before you jump to conclusions and start howling. I just offered the OP author a short pro/con for Rocket Slime.

    Pro - It's Fun
Con - It's short, unless you want to go through the ultimately needless collect-a-thon to gain all of the extra crap.

If that upsets you, then go get your panties in a wad elsewhere, Nancy.

You can collect 30 of each enemy to unlock them to use in your tank battles. But that's not just wireless tank battles, it's all the tank battles in the game.

I thought it was pretty fun but I really get off on the "collect everything" aspect of games.

The game is still long even if you don't decide to catch all enemies 30 times over. Like I said, I spent 20 hours just "filling up the Pokedex", a.k.a. resqueing every individual ally. So what you did isn't necesaary to prolong the game at all as it is already sufficiently long on its own. And while I don't play multiplayer, I can't imagine it being absolutely necessary to catch 30 enemies of every kind just so they'll join you in the tank as you have several other options for those slots (like some slimes and those ninja brothers).

So all in all your argument is completely invalid, and you are trying to cover it up by telling people to piss off and calling them retarded. Real civilized.

G&G is on GBA as Super G&G and I think Its on the Wii Virtual Console as well. I paid less than $10 for the used GBA cart.

Long? Fifteen hours isn't really classified as long in the age of 50 - 100 hour games.

No. Killing 30 enemies is without a doubt included to prolong the game time by appealing to the "gotta have 'em all" gamer.
as it is already sufficiently long on its own.

Subjective. The game can be beaten between 10 - 15 hours. That's hardly long. But then again, I never said the game was bad. I'm not sure what you and TweedleDumb are upset about. I would have liked the game to have been much longer without the need for fetch quests.

"zOMG Sleep said that game was too short for him. HE'S TOTALLY LYING ABOUT TEH GAME!"
And while I don't play multiplayer, I can't imagine it being absolutely necessary to catch 30 enemies of every kind just so they'll join you in the tank as you have several other options for those slots (like some slimes and those ninja brothers).

THATS MY POINT. It's an unnecessary fetch quest.
So all in all your argument is completely invalid

No. My argument that I think the game is too short is definitely valid. I can say that a billion games are too short because I would have liked to enjoy the game world more than the tangible story allowed. I do not like false padding of game time by stupid collect quests. I would have much rather had more story and more areas to explore.
and you are trying to cover it up by telling people to piss off and calling them retarded. Real civilized.

I'm not trying to cover up anything. My opinion on the game hasn't changed from my original post. I'm calling you jerks and retards on account of you two jumping on me for thinking the game was too short. Talk about civilized conversation. Thread was nice until you posted in it.

Around twenty hours is perfect for a DS game like this, most of them are that way. Canvas Curse, Partners in Time, Phoenix Wright, Meteos, etc. etc. are all around that mark. And they all got stellar reviews and hardly any complaints about being too short, so I don't understand why you decided to embark upon a personal vendetta against this lovely game that is so much fun to play. There are certainly far worse offenders you could've picked to trash upon.

    Trash?

"I like it but I think it's too short" isn't trash, son, nor is it a "personal vendetta". You need to quit taking things out of context.

I disagree. I liked the game so much that I think it's length was too short. I'm sorry if this opinion upsets you.
