    The transition didn't seem abrupt at all to me, although presumably the "730 pounds of Paindeer jerky later..." part was added after the fact to smooth things over.

    One thing that kind of gets me throughout all this: why is she going with them?

    Otherwise, brilliant arc! I actually feel kind of bad because at this point I'm starting to love Lookouts/Automata/Jim Darkmagic more than regular strips.

    I also would accept Jim changing his middle name, presumably when he gets bored of it. Seems like it would fit his character.

    Maybe he takes more to the human side. I remember Tanis from the Dragonlance novels having a beard.

    Check me on this, but I believe that even a quarter-elf or eighth-elf is still a "half-elf." Could easily have very much majority human traits.
