The writer and artist of I Saw It and Barefoot Gen died on December 19th, 2012.
Very few graphic artists are able to portray the senseless self-destruction of ourselves in a compelling and engaging manner, without resorting to fantastic or historical metaphors and foils. Nakazawa managed to do this simply by recounting his own experiences.
