From Kathryn Bigelow, director of Point Break and the woefully-named K-19: The Widowmaker, which Harrison Ford goes into detail about here...

...And also, you know, The Hurt Locker, which was a pretty fantastic film that you should maybe see if you haven't yet (it won a bunch of those fancy Oscars)...

...Comes Zero Dark Thirty, that "Osama bin Laden movie" you've probably heard about by now, which has had some pretty great damn trailers, especially the final one which features a choral rendition of a Metallica song that actually makes it sound good

So anyways, this movie technically is already out in New York and L.A. just to get it out in time for Oscar season, while it was delayed everywhere else (grumble grumble) to January 11, which is totally next Friday and holy shit I can't wait to see this movie
It's currently holding a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, 91% among top critics, and is a definite lock for a Best Picture nom next year and seems a strong contender to win it. It also features a pretty great cast!
Starring:
Jessica Chastain (I have only seen her in The Help but she was the best part of that film)
Jason Clark (Um. Hmm. Don't know who this guy is.)
Joel Edgerton (This one either, though a cursory glance at his Wikipedia page said he played young Uncle Owen in Star Wars Eps II and III? I can't be expected to know everyone!)
Mark Strong (He was great in Kick-Ass and Sherlock Holmes, guessing this dude plays a good villain, I'm interested to see him in this)
Chris Pratt (Bert Macklin, not sure what the FBI is doing here)
Kyle Chandler (Coach Taylor! He is generally awesome)
Harold Perrineau (WAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLTTTTT)
James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano, he's been in other things but
come on)
So anyways since this movie is going to be new to the majority of us next Friday, I'm gonna need a place to gush over this (if all goes well) and I imagine you all will too. Who else is excited for this?

Also apparently the torture scene depicted in the film doesn't actually work on the detainee

And nothing else matters.
regardless this movie looks rad and I wanna see it but stupid Damnyankees and West Coast snobs get it way before the honest working folk of North Carolina
Like, this movie is very timely in the sense that it was being made almost a decade in to the hunt for Osama. So it isn't right after the fact or quickly jumping on sensationalism, it was meant to be about this endless manhunt and what it means for a country to not have closure after trauma. But then after he was killed, it's like...whelp, guess that all changes now.
So if you don't know that, it seems like it's a really tasteless money grab over an assassination, when it wasn't meant to be that at all.
"You just got your Madrassa kicked" he says right before pulling all the pins off Osama's grenade belt and shoving him off the roof
finally someone who understands
ok well that makes a lot more sense
we also talk about other random shit and clown upon each other
