NVIDIA GeForce 310M [Code 31]

Recently I have been noticing a huge dip in the performance my computer can put out, and decided to take a look into it. I appears my secondary video card has stopped working, sighting "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)" as the reason it will not activate. I tried to update the drivers but it appears to be all up to date. Any ideas?

Update. Now my first Graphics card has kicked the bucket, A Intel(R) HD Graphics. This one is giving out a code 39. Currently my computer is stuck at a fucked up resolution because of this, and some help would be greatly appreciated

what make of laptop is it? A lot of laptops (Vaios for instance) use different drivers than the 'official' ones and if you somehow get the regular ones to install you can end up with problems, you'd need drivers from the laptop manufacturer.

I reverted to the original driver and now it works again! I guess I just have to avoid updating it
