But decide in a few days. I'll lock this up on Tuesday. Who ever is winner on Tuesday needs to make a new challenge before next weekend, or I'm making it valentines.
January 15: Voting ends, winner announced
January 19th: Winner should make a new thread before this:
Next challenge will run until February 28th, so if the winner has trouble making a theme, just do valentines.
Forumers Who stepped up to this challenge, as they appear in the poll:
NEW AC CHALLENGE RULE: Winner of the previous challenge picks the winner of the next challenge.
The human race has been around for a blink of the eye compared to the universe. Our planet is just a tiny spec in our own galaxy and it's resources are limited. At some point in time, it could become necessary for survival to venture to another planet.
The SpaceX CEO is considering a mission to build a Mars Colony. Read about it here.
AC CHALLENGE 32:
Imagine it's the year 2190 and the SpaceX Mars Colony mission has been established for over a century now. Have the people adapted and flourished or have they struggled to survive? Has the colony itself grown into multiple cities or was it mostly destroyed from internal conflicts?
Pick one of the following:
1. Mars Colony Building Concept(s) (+5 ACCP)
2. Mars Colonist Concept(s) (+5 ACCP)
3. The newest model of Space ship used for new Colonists (+5 ACCP)
4. Illustration with two or more of the above (+10 ACCP)
Remember it's 180 years in the future and with advances in medical technology and a rough, dangerous environment, who knows what the Colonists are like? Or how advanced current technology actually is? Perhaps with all the space travel and living or Mars, we have recently made first contact? How would that affect the colony?
The deadline for this challenge is January 12th!
Good luck!
For those of you who frequent the conceptart.org forums this should be pretty familiar; tens of artistic combatants thrown together in to an artistic arena, each struggling for the honor of being dubbed a master of the visual arts. Those of you who succeed will be bathed in glory and the blood of their competitors, those of you who fail will be exiled to a life of shame and isolation.
The aim of this thread is to try and spice things up a bit here in the ol' Artist's Corner. This thread is for entries in to the challenge or the discussion thereof. If you'd like to suggest a topic for the weekly challenge, go right ahead, but understand that the last winner of the challenge has total control over the task (unless they have won more than two challenges in a row, see rules).
The rules are simple;
RULES:
* One entry per person, per challenge.
* A contestant cannot win more than two challenges in a row.
* Winner gets the privilege of choosing the next challenge.
* Winner also gets the honor of picking the winner of the next challenge.
* At the end of a challenge, the thread is locked and a new one is begun.
* Stick to the challenge topic; no going off on a tangent.
* All formats welcome, whether they be traditional or digital; 2D or 3D; still or animated.
If you're looking for inspiration, check out the aforementioned conceptart.org forums (specifically the creature/environment/character of the week sections).
Seconding Iruka's chat post; this is more out of my comfort zone than my discomfort assignment. Dunno if I'll have time to do it but it sure would be good for me.
this is totally beyond what I can draw, so count me in.
Yes, with a quick verbal "boom." You take a man's peko, you deny him his dab, all that is left is to rise up and tear down the walls of Jericho with a ".....not!" -TexiKen
If only there were some form of system in place to determine the collective or at least majority desires of a group of people....
Than we'd be able to figure out if we wanted Polls!
"The 21st day of December 2090, fell on the mars colony decidedly bad. With limited ships to evacuate the population, the mars colony suffered unprecedented loss of life in the worst meteor shower in the 30 years since the first migration. "

I banged this out during a few quiet moments at work. I might try to do better/more to it before the deadline, but I don't normally participate in these so yay!
(Also can anyone recommend a decent non-photobucket linkable depository for my .jpgs? photobucket has been making my images look extra shitty recently.)

The most ambitious Mars terraformation project to date, these giant Atmospheric Pumps stand a towering 2.4 kilometers high. Construction takes nearly ten years to complete and is primarily automated with a small contingent of humans to oversee the whole ordeal. Dubbed "Space Sprinklers" their purpose is to vacuum frozen water up from under the surface like a giant straw and transport it, via gravity rings, to the upper atmosphere where it will be sprayed out in all directions, thus creating rainfall. The rain activates bio capsules dropped en mass nearly 50 years ago which will nitrate the soil and begin growing oxygen producing flora. The areas around the installations will become large, fresh water lakes. Projections indicate that Mars (barring any unforeseen setbacks) should enter its final stages of Terraformation around 2190 and be capable of fully sustaining a large colony of humans by 2200.

im gonna have to do a few more just to build off my news reel.
In my mind, this is the colonists abandoning the failed colony, which doesn't come across very well:
edit: wow, I should really learn to crop images better huh
