I heard a little story once from a gal who worked at a pet store.
One of the pups, a basset hound, was being fed one morning. It's ears were so big that they got into the bowl and blocked the food, and she had to tug the pup's ears out of the bowl so the little guy could actually eat.
Oh god, just found out from @HyperBallad that a couple of weeks ago Neil Gaiman's (my favourite author and the man behind Coraline) dog, Cabal, passed away. I am super teary-eyed reading his blog entry about it.
Oh man, I refuse to be sad about Cabal dying because that is such an awesome story about him rescuing Cabal and giving him such a good life and gaining such a good friend.
So we have been planning on getting a cat and I go window shopping sometimes even though technically we were going to wait until all my financial aid cleared and we bought a proper bed before we got a cat but I found this guy on petfinder today and oh my god, I want him so bad! So we might go look at him tomorrow if the shelter still has him available... I don't know... it seems somewhat irresponsible since we're still sleeping on an air mattress but he's so cute and I don't want to risk not being able to get him if we mesh well! Anyway CAT
His name is Smokey, I can only assume because he looks high as balls in all his photos. Oh my god you guys I don't know if you should hope that they still have him or that they've adopted him out so that I can be more responsible and wait to get a cat.

It really is an awesome story.
But losing a loved one is always hard. It always hurts, and feels like it will never be okay again.
But you learn to let go, and move on, and be happy again. Life goes on.
Fairly confident. She (the rabbit) almost never grunts. The sneezer can be a noisy fella though, he grunts at me all the time.

I think I'm going to delude myself into believing that she occasionally lets out a cute little toot, considering the rest of the time her posterior just gives me grief. :P
