For the longest time I never watched this show when I was a wee lad simply because of the choice of theme song. Seriously I thought it was an emo laden drama piece about the war. Well it kind of was but I guarantee you, if you watch this series, your wit will be as sharp as a razor.
Weighing in at an impressive 11 seasons, it pretty much lasted longer then the actual fucking war it depicted. If you haven't caught a whiff of it yet I suggest you check it out. I mean it's only won 14 Emmys.

Anybody who has never watched an episode of M*A*S*H needs to either drop what they are doing and go watch it right now, or kill themselves because their life is devoid of value.
the movie was a couple hours long. the show is like, in total, hundreds of hours long. I think theres way more funny in that
the couple hours of the movie are better than a random couple hours of the show (obviously if you threw together the best four episodes it would give the movie a run for its money)
Personally, I like ALL of it. There are folks who watch the show, and think it's awesome, without realizing that the movie is even more awesome, or that there even is a movie.
I mean, I watched the show when I was little, because my dad liked it, but there are plenty of folks my age who are unfamiliar with it all.
the movie was just as funny as the show. I wouldn't say it was better.
though the brief scene of hotlips nude was dynamite when I was little.
yeah, the whole hotlips nude thing was great
and the making painless think he was commiting suicide
Like I said, you could hand pick four episodes that combined would be just as funny as the movie, or maybe even funnier, but if you picked for at random, chances are that the movie is better.
I'd still watch the four episodes too, though. Four hours of MASH is better than only two.
I don't think there are many MASH episodes where I havent laughed my ass off all the way through.
I know, it was HILARIOUS when Henry's chopper was shot down, and when Potter's buddy died.
huh?
I'm just teasing.
I used to watch AT LEAST two hours of MASH a day, and I'm talking last year. The onlyreason I stopped is because I got busier.
There have been times, after watching too much MASH, that I drive my roommates crazy because I CANNOT stop making quips at basically everything. Hawkeye is a bad influence on me :P
It does have it's sad moments, though. I'll admit I've gotten teary-eyed during more than one episode.

Because it is so much better with the words.
Also, as much as I love Alan Alda, the movie was better.
it brings on many changes

The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.
Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
I'll hot-oil wrestle any man that says otherwise.

Well, in that case, MASH sucks and Alda is a hack!
So, when we wrestling? :winky:
Plus Allen Alda is douchebag.

:-P
I agree with this thread and vote you get shot.

And so did my father. I was born during the airing of the final episode. Almost was given the name Hawkeye.
No one else my age i know likes it though, to the best of my knowledge..... fucking morons
What name did they give you instead of Hawkeye? Cause that would have been rad.
Secret Satan
They stuck me with Zack.
Which no one can spell right. K not H.
Damn, it'd be easier if they'd just named me Hawkeye.
Book > movie > tv show
Not sure where the rock opera would fit in here because there is not yet a m*a*s*h rock opera.
But there should be.
They get the ladies.
Ha, same thing for me. Whenever I wear either of my M*A*S*H shirts, people (women in particular) comment about how cool my shirt is.
FYI, in case you didn't know, the movie came first, Donald sutherland as Hawkeye, Elliot Gould as BJ Honeycut.
Actually Elliot Gould played Trapper in the movie. BJ was a character created for the TV series
When i was growing up i watched that stuff all the time and loved it.
was bj created entirely for the show, or was he in the books? I admit I've never read them
Klinger, Red, and Radar made the whole damn thing worthwhile.
Frank was too dim witted to retort most of the time.
you forgot to mention potter being henry's replacement
frank was still a fun character. I'm glad that the series had both of them
Didn't care too much for Potter, seeing as they had used him to play Maj. Gen. Bartford H. Steele a year or so before they took Henry off the show.
