The whole thing about the light cult was that it was a false appropriation of the creation myth, though. Paradiso was all about light and shit, but everything angelic in it was a facade for grotesque horror.
There's never been a PC port of Bayonetta, has there? I'm mainly a PC gamer these days, but I enjoy some crazy wacky over-the-top gaming from time to time (see: Suda 51)

The great thing about Bayonetta, is that it pretty much goes FUCK THAT SHIT, and ingnores the line completly. Bayonetta is goddamn Bayonetta. She's not empowered female protaganist. She's going to kick your goddamn ass with a gigantic hair dog while striking a totally ridiculous pose 90% naked and you are going to DEAL WITH IT.
She's a character, not a cypher, which is an EXTREMLEY important distinction

It's a cool gun too. I only got the standard edition and I was given the gun in the bag. I didn't even realised until I'd already left the store I was so intent on going home. I didn't go give it back. :P

Bayonetta doesn't slap you around with its dick like NG Black does if you refuse to learn its systems
Even on Ultimate Fucking Pussy Mode (Ninja Dog) in NG, that game is fucking balls-hard. Fuck that. It did not make me want to learn. It was, in fact, actively discouraging.
Bayonetta on Easy and Very Easy differs from the DMC/NG grading because instead of just giving you one final grade per level, they give you a grade for every single enemy encounter and show it to you in real time. They don't make you feel like a dumbass or like you suck, they simply and softly reinforce "you could be doing this better" while still letting you slide by
When I bounced it up to Normal, I felt pretty damn challenged, but able to compete with the help of some health items. It made me want to actually slide up the difficulty and challenge myself further.
What I described above, this whole process of helping ease new players in while still retaining that difficulty level for the more skilled should they choose to have it? That's also why I massively prefer DmC over any previous DMC games
