Straight Razor Issues

Hey, I've been using a straight razor for a while now, and I really dig it. But, I've noticed the edge getting dull and stropping is no longer sufficient to keep up the edge. So, I've got this razor hone here, but for the life of me I think I am only making it duller by trying to hone. I just can't put a good edge on there. I've tried looking around the nets but nothing has really helped me. I still can't actually shave with this razor right now.

Any hints or full on how-to info out there?

Thanks

Are you using a strop? They really are the most effective way of honing a straight razor. It's a good idea to form a habit of taking a few swipes before every shave, and occasionally a few about half through, or before tackling a tricky area. If you are using a stone, or one of those cheater grooved blocks, its next to impossible to get the edge right.

Yes, I'm using a strop, but it is at the point where I need to hone it. I just seem to not be able to get the edge back. I'm using the Col. Conk stone.
