[Solved] Recording shit with my macbook

I need to record a room. With my macbook. I need it to capture motion. We have a cat, out of our 3 cats, that's shitting on the floor. I need to figure out which one it is, because I can't seem to figure it out. All of them refuse to poop until after we sleep or if no one's around.
I don't really want to eat up a ton of hard drive space though.
Is there a solution to this? Motion capture? I can't really afford any fancy software or hardware, so if I can get away with it with free software that'd be perfect.

Have I misunderstood what you want to do? I assume it is "record video when cat is in frame".
If it could schedule so I can do it for maybe 2-4 hours that'd be fine.
